Does anyone know if the airplane in the Indiana Jones stunt show is a real plane? I've never seen one like that before.

from everything that I could find, the plane used in the stunt show was a real plane used in WWII by the Germans (at least a model after the real thing, built specifically for the stunt purposes). It was a variation of
this plane, the JUNKERS JU-88A-1, which was introduced late in the war. it didn't last really long, and I can't find much info on the exact model. Quickgold, in all his Disney/MGM studios knowledge may be able to get more info, or maybe someone else here, but this is about all I could find...

I haven't seen the show in a LOOONG time but I remember it being a little small. I think it's a scaled down replica.

I just watched the show on our video of our last trip with my daughter last week. The plane is definately smaller than any real plane used in WWII. The engines and propellers look to be about the right size, but the body of the plane is shorter and more narrow. Gotta fit on the stage I guess.

The plane used in the stunt show is not real (way too small).

They did a good job though. It looks like a small plane that would be used for mere transporting, equiped with enough firepower for protecting itself only.

That would sure be nice! But I heard Tony Baxter (WDI) quoted once saying that that would "never" happen because of them liking the stunt show's presence at MGM.

I can't imagine they'd remove the stunt show, simply because of the large size of the audience. It's a huge way to reduce crowds in the rest of the park.
Still, an update for those of us who've seen it a few times would be nice!
Off Topic: Does anyone know what's happening with Indiana Jones 4?

not to keep going OT, but that sounds so cheesy. almost like something my 5 year old cousin would've made up.
back on topic here, I'd like to see the DLR version make an appearance somewhere in the World. maybe not in MGM, but somewhere. maybe another big add-on to AK. the stunt show could use some updating. and as Esmerelda said, it does reduce the crowds in the park due to the large capacity theater, so I can't see them getting rid of it

As much as I'd like to see them update the show, I don't know if they ever will since it still seems to be a pretty big draw. It'd be nice if they did it to coincide with the release of the new movie, though, or (dare to dream) brought a DLR-like ride to WDW themed on the new movie.
In the meantime the stunt show remains one of two things at WDW I absolutely refuse to do again. Just seen it way, way too many times for it to hold my interest anymore.

Interestingly, the title of the fourth film is VERY close to the title of the Indy attraction at Tokyo DisneySea, which is the Temple of the Crystal Skull. (
Attraction page on the TDR site).
I wonder if there's going to be any crossovers in the plots of the ride and the film...
