Is this River Country?

Post by cy1229 » Feb Sat 18, 2017 5:00 pm

Stumbled across this photographer quite by accident, and now I'm fascinated with his work.

Are these photos of the now abandoned River Country? http://sephlawless.com/gallery/abandone ... dismaland/

At least some of those are (the islands, and some of the buildings/structures) Not sure if any of the other stuff is, but probably.

I would have to agree with Wizz ~ all of the identifiable structures are definitely River Country, and very likely the up close pictures of the picnic tables are as well. It amazes me to see how well some of the structures have held up, while other parts of the park have gone back to an almost natural state in a relatively short period of time.

It may have held up a lot better since it no longer has people using it daily nor is it getting hit with a constant stream of chlorinated water (if that is what most of the resort used).

Those are beautiful pictures! The moss draped oaks are so pretty. I guess when they cut the cord on something, its done.

Unless the space is going to be used for something, or they are going to scavenge parts for other things, it pretty much just stays the same as the day it closes with possible fire code exceptions.

They only just recently got rid of the fantasyland end of DLR's skyway (it had closed about 20 years ago) and that was only due to the hill being redone for Star Wars.

It's fascinating tome as well. Of course I'm very into abandoned places. Has anyone read how recently a man was arrested for trespassing because he was camping out on the island? There are some amazing vids of people who have snuck on the island and video taped the area. Now I'm not condoning these actions, but I am saying it's pretty cool to see what the area looks like now and how some structures are still there. Strange how they just abandoned stuff.

Yeah, I read that on Screamscape. The guy refused to leave. Maybe he was trying to self-isolate!
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.
