I think I asked this before when MBs were starting up. Don't they scan your band when you go in rides during EMH? If it fails a check they ask you to leave.

Yes, they have small magicband readers at the attraction entrances for EMH. I guess for this "event" they'd either use that, or do as they do for MNSSHP or MVMCP and use the separate wristbands instead. I think the separate wristbands are more likely, since that's how they seem to do the other hard-ticket events.

I forgot there is food served at these things, so they still use the paper wristbands? That would be the only realistic way to confirm crowds of people walking around are supposed to be there without having to physically scan everyone or put in checkpoints throughout the park.

They're more plastic than paper, but yeah. I went to MNSSHP last year and had a separate wristband for it. See: https://twitter.com/acp/status/648237604324966400

I think that's the likely reason, too - it's much easier to see who should be there and who shouldn't at a glance rather than having to scan everyone and wait for the scanner to do the checks. Just looking at the band is much quicker and more obvious.

I assume they change the colour or something for each party night, since otherwise there's nothing to stop you slipping the band off and back on for another night's party (they put mine on at MNSSHP so loose I could just slip it off and on without any effort at all).

I've had more time to let this digest...

And I am now more okay with this. The main reason is because I think it's Disney trying to offer guests something they have been wanting for a while, and doing it without drastically raising the prices for all guests. Yes, they did just increase the prices for park tickets, but that tends to always happen once or twice a year. Do I think it's a great deal? No. I think it is a horrible deal given what you already pay at WDW. But I know there are people out there who put a premium on their time in the parks and they'd willingly pay $150 to know they won't have long lines at all...and won't have to be at the park at rope drop.

So there...that's about as close I am going to get at not thinking this is awful.

So....one of the podcasts I listen to mentioned that the rumored attendance cap is 3,000. Meaning just about everything will be a walk on or a very short wait. Also, you can get in early (7 pm) which would give you 6-7 hours in the park. Those two pieces of info make it almost just about nearly sort of worth it to me.

My two fears are:
1. This means the end of extra magic hours as a resort benefit. You'll have to buy a ticket regardless of on site / off site.
2. Halloween and Christmas party ticket prices will double to match this price.

Premium parking, early entry, stay late, resort fees all an unashamed money grab by Disney. I feel like they are out of ideas to offer new experiences so now they will just charge for things that used to be included. I used to be able to park in the front row based on paying for parking or staying in a resort. I used to be able to get in early / stay late by staying in a resort. Magical express and WIFI used to be included in the room rate.
"Park's closed. Moose out front should have told ya."

I would imagine, if it were to stay, it would work like the existing hard ticket events, one park will feature it one day while another park has the EMH.

Just saw the ticket prices for 2018 ~ $119/person. Still not worth the extra 3 hours for me...unless I win the lottery...and even then, probably not

No, no, no, no, no, no.... If you win the lottery, you're supposed to buy one of those houses on Disney property... hang if I can remember the name now (of course) ... and then we all can visit you and go hang at the parks whenever we want. Remember?

That is a senior citizen colony... also doesn't include tickets if I recall.
