I'm taking it that it would be run by someone other than Disney? Considering sports are starting to lose their invulnerability for tv ratings, it is starting to impact the top rank of ESPN in the Disney org.

I haven't paid the announcements too much attention as I don't have any interest in that venue, but it could be slated to be run by someone else ~ there are definitely more non-Disney entities popping up in the new Disney Springs areaWizzard419 wrote:I'm taking it that it would be run by someone other than Disney? I don't think anything at Disney Springs is run by Disney other than the obvious merchandise locations. So it would make sense for the NBA to own and operate whatever they create there to replace DisneyQuest.

Does anyone find DisneySprings kind of boring now? Like, I don't want to walk around shopping for whatever! What do ppl do with themselves there?

I would imagine the same thing they do at the mall (if those still exist), showroom items before going home to buy them online at a lower price. Also, the area music for the property sounds like Disney hold music.
One interesting thing, which is probably about 6 years too late for the trend, they are licensing a local bar from LA, the Edison. Not sure how a Steam/Decopunk and Electro Swing establishment will fare with people from the rest of the country.

Disney knows that they make the most bang for their buck from dining and merchandise. That is why Disney Springs is what it is today. In terms of atmosphere, it is light years ahead of where it was 10-15 years ago. The area felt very dated and it didn't really offer you anything on par with what they had in the parks or resorts. So, if you weren't a local, a day at Downtown Disney almost felt like a wasted day of your vacation. With all of the new dining options, shopping, and entertainment...Disney Springs is most definitely worth some of your vacation time now. Not everyone will enjoy going there, but I think more people will like it now than ever before.
