Disneyquest to close

Post by kosmosworld » Sep Tue 29, 2015 10:02 am

So, I have just heard that Disneyquest is set to close late 2016. Did anyone hear about that, or if there are plans to move it? It is supposed to be changed to a NFL or NBA experience something like that.
I will miss the old games. :mickey:

I KNOW we've discussed this somewhere on the boards already, but hang it if I can find the post. Amy is good at locating them. Amy, can you squirt the link in here? I was going to merge topics but since I cannot find the topic to merge to...

Despite still having 9 "Water Park and More" days left on my non-expiring tickets, I went to Quest only once back in 2008 and had my fill. It's ok, as far as interactive arcades go, but not really the WOW that I had hoped for. Of course, if Disney had continued to invest in new technology to make regular updates then maybe it would be more exciting, but the big attractions feel very dated and I can do a lot of this at home (better) on my XBox Kinect.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

With the Oculous Rift coming out next year, this could have been Disney's Yesterland, but instead they're putting in something with the NBA. Talk about a missed opportunity. Horizons could have returned...in virtual form.

Virtual versions of old attractions would be pretty neat! Good idea :goofy_bounce:

Honestly, I never went in, and don't feel like I've missed anything, so the 'loss' of it won't affect me at all. Viva the future of the parks with all the cool new stuff!! :goofy_bounce: :goofy_bounce:

I also went there once and never cared to go back. Unless I just didn't want to pay for a higher pass, it seemed more like an arcade where each ride was too expensive for my wallet.

I did it once, and that was enough. It was OK but not something I could see doing over and over. It is taking up a lot of space and I am interested to see what will go there.

I hope it isn't an NBA or NFL experience, as I have absolutely zero interest in that, but we shall see.

Will all the changes over to Disney Springs and such, there at a lot of themeing, and store changes, so I can't wait to see till that is all done.

We only were at Disney Quest for about an hour on the last trip. And that was only because we had tickets included with our package, and it started pouring when we were at the end of our shopping trip to Disney Springs. There were some fun things to do, but it definitely seemed more of a place for tweens to hang out and play video games. I wouldn't have wanted to take time from the parks to visit there. It sounds fairly certain that a sports themed place is going in there so it will likely be of little interest to us as well. But if there are people that will enjoy it, that is good. And maybe it will make the parks a little less crowded for the rest of us!

I'm not sure they would want to go for a professional sports thing, licensing would be much more expensive at that point.

Several sources have said the replacement is supposed to be a "NBA Experience" ~ time will tell.
