Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
Update: The construction wall near Pooh has been pushed out to the Tea Cups. There is no path behind the attraction right now.

We are all a little weird
And life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
Wow ~ there is quite a lot of vertical construction visible now. Has anyone seen any artist renderings of the Little Mermaid attraction building?

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
I did not realize this is stretching all the way down to tommorowland. Neat pictures
Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
The Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid areas will not be anywhere near Tomorrowland. The new Dueling Dumbo is right against the Tomorrowland Speedway.jacobcary1 wrote:I did not realize this is stretching all the way down to tommorowland. Neat pictures

DLR built the TLM into an already existing building and re-did the exterior for the ride...jacobcary1 wrote:I thought is was going to be the same as the other park.Amy wrote:Wow ~ there is quite a lot of vertical construction visible now. Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
They only really reused the replica San Francisco's Palace of The Arts part of the building didn't they? I think the rest of the attraction was built from the ground up.mindflipper wrote:DLR built the TLM into an already existing building and re-did the exterior for the ride...jacobcary1 wrote:I thought is was going to be the same as the other park.Amy wrote:Wow ~ there is quite a lot of vertical construction visible now. Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
But that building was still originally built for another purpose, and now it houses the TLM. WDW is not reusing a current existing structure, so it's exterior will be built for the purpose of TLM. DLR and WDW will have two different exteriors.
Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
Technically yes, technically no. The back walls (North and East facing) were still around from the 20K show building but the TLM foundation, South and West walls are new.mindflipper wrote:But that building was still originally built for another purpose, and now it houses the TLM. Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
But they're taking the entire exterior structure from the old 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction and re-theming it to TLM like they did with the Palace replica out at DLR. Other than those two walls, they have practically razed the previous building.MadEye wrote:Technically yes, technically no. Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
The 20K building was gone long before Fantasyland Expansion was ever though of. Back in 05, it was a field with those walls that I mentioned.mindflipper wrote:But they're taking the entire exterior structure from the old 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction and re-theming it to TLM like they did with the Palace replica out at DLR. Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
This is great, but I'm worried that they're risking overstepping the rule of keeping each land in-character. It's going to be quite jarring to look up from futuristic little Tomorrowland and see this mammoth circus tent! I really love how the lands tend to stay in character, as grand as the expansion will look in Fantasyland, I'm beginning to feel a bit worried for the other lands.

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
Then again, there's no separation between Liberty Square and Fronteirland either, so one just runs directly into the other. The speedway separates Fantasyland from Tomorrowland, and I've hardly ever considered that it's really part of Tomorrowland (doesn't fit in either, really).
Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe is directly across from Fantasyland/Tea Cups. From the construction I've seen, you can't really see Dueling Dumbo's tent construction until you are really close to it (near Tea Cups and approaching the load/unload of the Speedway, while on the Speedway). And the tent isn't going to be that big.CastMember2o13 wrote:This is great, but I'm worried that they're risking overstepping the rule of keeping each land in-character.
