I wonder if in the original plans these tents were to be destroyed but when they decided to change things (take out meet & greets and add the mine coaster) if they didn't decide to revamp the plans to keep the tents for the dueling Dumbos in order to save some $$$.MadEye wrote:They can't move. Those tents got saved and are now going to be refurbished from what I have been reading.mindflipper wrote:I wonder if in the original plans these tents were to be destroyed but when they decided to change things (take out meet & greets and add the mine coaster) if they didn't decide to revamp the plans to keep the tents for the dueling Dumbos in order to save some $$$.MadEye wrote:They can't move. Also it seems like the Mine Coaster will be getting pushed back a bit. It is now on for 2014. If you think about it, they really can't start doing anything on it until Dumbo is removed.

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
So this Expansion is going to end up taking close to 5 years???
I applaud them being able to get this done during a tough recession...but dang that is a long time to have major construction going on. That's almost as slow as the government workers doing construction on our interstates and highways.

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
I believe it's the mine train coaster that will take until 2014. It's spot is currently inhabited by Dumbo, which has to be moved to its new location before construction can begin on the other. Fantasyland will open in different segments starting in 2012 last I heard.
Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
The original plans were for MTTF to become Pixie Hollow. Dumbo would have been in the back away from where the current tent buildings are.mindflipper wrote:I wonder if in the original plans these tents were to be destroyed but when they decided to change things (take out meet & greets and add the mine coaster) if they didn't decide to revamp the plans to keep the tents for the dueling Dumbos in order to save some $$$.MadEye wrote:They can't move. From what I've seen, Dumbo has no bearing on the Mine Train. All Dumbo is in the way of is the Castle Walls.Len90 wrote:If you think about it, they really can't start doing anything on it until Dumbo is removed.

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
But as Pixie Hollow has been dumped, as well as some of the meet & greets, I presume the layout of the original plans are now out the window. I'm guessing there's been a shuffle of where things were to be located to make room for the mine car train coaster.MadEye wrote:The original plans were for MTTF to become Pixie Hollow. Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
Technically no. Disney released blueprints and a model for the expansion showing Dumbo in two different spots. With the dumping of Pixie, they went with the version of blueprint/model that has Dumbo in the spot it is being constructed in with just keeping the "tent" buildings and adding more like them for the circus theme.mindflipper wrote:But as Pixie Hollow has been dumped, as well as some of the meet & greets, I presume the layout of the original plans are now out the window. Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
Update: A planter by Dumbo was removed. This is the second planter in the vicinity of Dumbo to be removed in the past 9 or so months.
Rumor is that the Storybook Circus (Dumbo) area will open sometime in Spring 2012.

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
Interesting that the planters are starting to disappear. I guess Disney wants to buy as much time as possible before they have to close down Dumbo? Are they trying to make it where they have it ready for immediate dismantling once the walls go up?MadEye wrote:Update: A planter by Dumbo was removed. That's the best bet as to why.Len90 wrote:Interesting that the planters are starting to disappear. I guess Disney wants to buy as much time as possible before they have to close down Dumbo? Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
Update: Rockwork is coming along nicely for both TLM facade and the BatB area. And the castle wall has started just behind the construction wall near Pinocchio's Village Haus.

Everything except the Snow White mine train ride. No construction for it at all, yet.Len90 wrote:Thanks for the information. True, but as it was a last minute change, It's further behind on the development track than the rest of Fantasyland Expansion. I thought it was announced it would open later than the rest of the expansion?MadEye wrote:Everything except the Snow White mine train ride.
