I would have to agree that the pin trading medals look very nice Joe.
Hey b-babe, that would be cool if you posted a pic of the ToT medal. What was that race?
I'll have to ask my brother what sort of medal he got when he did the inline race at WDW.

Re: 2011 WDW Marathon Weekend
I don't have time at the moment to take a pic. and post my ToT medal, but I promise I can do that either tonight when I get home from work, or tomorrow! The ToT race was either a 13K or 6K (we ran the 13K, 8.1 miles) and it started at night. Everything was the Twilight Zone Theme and the race started right outside MGM (at that time) and finished right behind the ToT! The park was open afterward for runners and if family and friends wanted to come in, they had to buy a ticket. We did the Innaugral race in Oct. '07. It was wonderful!!!!! I'll post some pics. later!!!
I've always thought the Marathon & 1/2 Marathon medals were awesome, but the one for 2011 is def. lacking.

Re: 2011 WDW Marathon Weekend
All this talk of running actually has me depressed. I used to run six miles, three times a week, as part of my regular fitness regimen. But then after foot surgery, ankle surgery (complete with permanent steel parts), back injuries, blah...blah....blah.... I can't run much anymore.
But lots of pixie dust to those of you who get to run in the Disney Marathons!
Oh, and by the way: I'm actually glad the Boilers aren't going to the one coming up... then they wouldn't be able to make our December meet-up.
(sorry, Boilerbabe... selfishness kicked in...

Re: 2011 WDW Marathon Weekend
I'm going to try to make it a goal of mine to run the 2012 or 2013 WDW Marathon. I have never run more than 13.1 miles...so it's a little intimidating. But...if I'm going to try...it might as well be at WDW.
We'll see if I can get myself back into half marathon shape...then test out the *old knees and back beyond that.
*Note: I am only 28 years old...so the term "old" describes the knees and back more than my actual age.

I am impressed with anyone that runs more than a 5K. That is my limit, I just get bored

I can relate. I always tell people that for me, it's not the physical age, it's the mileage. I've racked up a lot of miles on my poor bones.theBIGyowski wrote:*Note: I am only 28 years old...so the term "old" describes the knees and back more than my actual age.

Must be nice to be in such great shape that you don't get tired, you just get bored after running "only" 5K. *sarcasm off*Boilerdude wrote:I am impressed with anyone that runs more than a 5K. That is my limit, I just get bored

Well boredom and my joints can’t take anything more than about 4 miles. Like you said, too many miles.

Back problems? Joints now? Starting too sound a bit "creaky" for a young guy your age, B-dude.Boilerdude wrote:Well boredom and my joints can’t take anything more than about 4 miles. Like you said, too many miles.

Re: 2011 WDW Marathon Weekend
I am 37 and all those years of 2-Day practices, lifting obscene amounts of weights, running, hitting, getting hit is really showing up.
Now if I try to lift heavy at the gym or run for any great amount of time my joints will swell up. But I digress, we all have a story. We just need to the best with what we have. For some, a walk down the street is an accomplishment, others a marathon. The most important thing is to be active.

Re: 2011 WDW Marathon Weekend
I'm only doing the Marathon because I want a Mickey Mouse Medal.
I mean a proper Micky Mouse Medal. Not the 2011 medal.
