Let's avoid the bad stereotypes about Asian food. However, it does remind me of a bit from Sweeney Todd that was on the other night on BBC America. Ms. Lovett was singing about one of her competitors suspect meat in their meat pies:Amy wrote:Or...Woof, woof?!Mousekedude wrote:Belgian waffles.....!!! Yum, yum!!! Depends on what I want first...
Margarita >>> Start at Mexico and go Clockwise
Beer >>> Start at Canada/UK and go Counterclockwise
It's just that simple...and how DW and I decided where we would start and which direction to go each time we went on our last trip.

Brussel style waffles (commonly reffered to as "Belgian" here) are nothing compare to the Liege style, not only are they tasty but there is the danger of injury!Mousekedude wrote:Belgian waffles.....!!! Yum, yum!!! Of course, I won't get a chance to find out... it's over before we go.![]()

Ok, I'll bite. What is the danger of injury? Because they are so large?Wizzard419 wrote:Brussel style waffles (commonly reffered to as "Belgian" here) are nothing compare to the Liege style, not only are they tasty but there is the danger of injury!

No stereotypes happenin' here, bro. I love Asian food: Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese.... my question comes from curiosity: what's so unique about Korean food? In Houston we have thriving communities from all sorts of Asian countries, with plenty of authentic restaurants to choose from, and for the most part they serve a lot of the same things. So I was wondering what a kiosk at WS could possibly offer that would be perceived as "uniquely Korean?" Thought I'd ask it with a humorous twist....mindflipper wrote: Let's avoid the bad stereotypes about Asian food...

This is off of the Disney website...
NEW-South Korea, Introduced: 2010
* Lettuce Wraps with Roast Pork and Kimchi Slaw
* Barbecue Short Rib with Steamed Rice and Cucumber Kimchi
* Honey Ginger Tea
* Jinro Chamisul Soju
* Bohae Bokbunjajoo (Black Raspberry Rice Wine)
The short ribs and lettuce wraps sound pretty good to me! Although, isn't Kimchi the cabbage they bury in the ground for awhile to let it ferment???

I wasn't trying to perpetuate a stereotype either. I was just mentioning what my Dad saw when he was stationed in Korea. It is sad for our culture to think of someone eating a dog, but I'm sure the Indian people are sad to see Americans eat their sacred moo-cows tooMousekedude wrote:No stereotypes happenin' here, bro. Re: Clockwise or Counterclockwise EPCOT???
Okay, so I can see that they will have a few things that are distinctly Korean, such as the Kimchi, and that's a good thing. But everything else is pretty much a variation of stuff you can get at a lot of other Asian restaurants. I'm not trying to diss it, I'm just saying that it seems like a tough prospect to come up with a good variety of things that are exclusively Korean.... you know, the way stuff like Strudel is exclusively German and so forth. That's the whole point of the Food and Wine showcase for all the countries... offer stuff that is exclusive (or most commonly linked to) each particular country. It can be hard to do that for the Asian countries when so much of their food is very similar, is all I was saying.
As for the Korean menu, I would like to try everything on it... shame I won't be able to make it.

My guess is that the "danger" is something along the lines of SWE Syndrome (Spontaneous Waistline Expansion).Amy wrote:Ok, I'll bite. What is the danger of injury? It's also hard to do exclusively Australian food. I mean living on or near the Gulf coast we see shrimp (prawns) cook all sorts of different ways.Mousekedude wrote:Okay, so I can see that they will have a few things that are distinctly Korean, such as the Kimchi, and that's a good thing. Re: Clockwise or Counterclockwise EPCOT???
Actually the danger is getting burned (with the fresh made ones) since they use a yeast dough and pearl sugar (similar to broken up sugar cubes). When it is placed in the iron the sugar turns molten, caramelizes, and helps make a nice crust on the end product.Amy wrote:Ok, I'll bite. What is the danger of injury? I'm surprised they aren't trying to rip off the Kogi taco truck for Korean food. Korean style BBQ is one of the things that is still totally theirs I guess. Kind of like Pho in vietnam.
For aussies did they have pies with green mash?

Oh and Strudel is actually Austrian not german (if you trace it back)
