Soarin, do you have a preference for what park you want to work in? I guess it's possible you could be placed at a resort too though, right?

the best hours are probably either at Animal Kingdom or the Studios. Good Luck if you get MK!

Congrats Soarin!

If you have any questions about the College Program, I'm here to answer them.
And good luck! Keep us updated on here when you move down there!

Epcot or MK. Epcot is my top choice (I'd LOVE to be at Sunshine Seasons Food Fair, Cosmic Ray's, or Pecos Bill's, my three favorite eating establishments at WDW). Resort.... yeah, I guess so. That'd be really cool too!! 8-)

I used to clean Peco's Bill's, trust me you don't want there! lol I hated cleaning up behind that place, and Cosmic Rays is one fo the busiest, if not THE nusiest place to eat in all of WDW.

Good luck Soarin! I did the College Program about 10 years ago and it was a blast! And what you "think" you want may not really be what you want. I was there the year after the AK opened. I wanted to work at the AK before I arrived - thought it'd be a blast. When I arrived they assigned me to MGM Studios. I'm now so thankful! The AK is so hot and humid during the summer, I was miserable every time I went over there to hang in the park and I wound up loving the Studios - it's now my favorite park!

Please do! I loved reading LionsSleepTonight's and ASP's post way back, and it inspired me to write my own entries. SO please give me something to read weekly in the next few months :)

I have decided that I will be doing another College Program. I am planning to apply for the Fall Advantage Program which runs from May to January. Last time, I only did the Fall Program which went by too fast...since this is the last time I can do the College Program, I might have well get used to the Florida summers now since I plan on staying in Florida after the College Program.

I also just want to have one more chance of having fun in my college years. I've commuted to college for the past 5 years, the only time I really got to experience the college lifestyle was during my first College Program. I met a lot of friends during my first CP, and a lot of them are still down there. I would like to meet even more people and a perfect opporutunity is through another CP. However I will also probably be trying to pick up a lot of overtime shifts to help save money for my future down there so you might hear a lot more interesting stories instead of the Custodials ones you heard in the past.

For what roles that I'm thinking of applying for and top 3 places I would like to get placed are:

ATTRACTIONS
1. Pirates. I just think with my energy and just be happy every day view on life, I think I would be great for Pirates. In my past 2 trips, I have studied the Cast Members that work there, and it doesn't seem that exciting, but I think I would have a lot of fun at this ride. It is also an attraction that stays somewhat busy so it would keep me motivated and interested perhaps in staying their Full-Time afterwards.
2. Mission Space. Despite what people say about this attraction, I still like this ride mainly because it was always a dream of mine as a kid, to someday travel in space. And since that would never happen, still be able to feel those G forces is a pretty cool thing. And just like pirates, I actually don't mind the costume haha
3. Splash Mountain/Big Thunder. Heard they arent the best places to work, but I can't think of anywhere else.

Once again though, I would accept wherever I get placed...I'm just listing places of interest that I would like to work at.

I'm still not sure what other roles I would like to apply for at this time but I will defnitely keep you all updated on here within the next month since applications/interviews for the Fall 2009 CP should be in the next 2 months.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

I would love to retire and work the HM. They need more people who already look half dead! Seriously, to all of you getting ready to do the CP, I really appreciate what the cast members do to make WDW visits for oldsters like me such a pleasant experience. I love to read your stories. I wish there had been a college program when I was in college! I'm planning to be there June 13-21 2009 with my kids and grandkids. I'd like to be able to meet some of you.

Best of luck to both Soarin08 and Packwingfn!

I look forward to reading about your experiences! I often miss my old work place, but of course I mostly miss all my old friends and roomies. I still keep in regular contact with about a handful. A few have come back down to WDW to work as fulltime...but that's a whole different story.
