Broadcast? What do they broadcast from WDW? Or is it just resort only programing?

They have people stationed there who do a lot of work there on ABC as well as the Disney Channel. They don't do filming there, but they are there for planning and other inner workings for the channels.Wizzard419 wrote:Broadcast? What do they broadcast from WDW? Or is it just resort only programing?

That is still surprising since there are probably a thousand better locations to house it at that are not in a tourist destination. The only reason I can think of is that they have the setup there from when they used to film and broadcast so it wasn't worth trying to roll the tasks into another division.

I think those might be contracted out, if they are used throughout the resort they wouldn't, but if they do go through with an expansion and it takes out a sizeable chunk/all of the area they do use then they might.

This report, which says verified, (take that for what its worth) says Osborne Family Lights will be no more.

Thanks for the info yodiwan, this truly depresses me. I love Osborne Lights and we love Streets of America.
I know they need to keep making things newer and better but I'm not a huge Star Wars person so I'm not that thrilled about the expansion plans. Really hoping we make it there this year to see Osborne Lights!

Me too Amy! I find it hard to believe they would not put all of those lights to use somewhere else?! My understanding was that Disney purchased the Osborne Lights from the family!?

If they were specifically set up for specific facades, like they do for the other parks, they wouldn't work. Also, if the park is going to be torn up due to construction, they usually scale back displays in affected areas simply because it would be too difficult to install.

Couldn't they move the display to another park??? I'm shocked Disney is going to do away with Osborne Lights. Does this not surprise anyone else?

Re: Disney Hollywood Studios Expansion Rumored
They would need to tear them apart (probably cheaper just to build new setups) and rebuild them to fit on the other facades. At the same time the other parks have their own displays.
If I understand correctly, the lights are only used on the façade street, with no attractions (or major shops) competing for attention. So when people go to see it they are not becoming a human clog for other stuff, but if they did that in another park they might be.
