Yes. I agree with both of these statememnts.
I went into WDW's Fantasmic! with slightly lower expectations (because I knew they didn't have the Columbia and the Mark Twain) to begin with, but after the show was over I felt highly underwhelmed. It just didn't seem to have the grandeur of DL's version. I don't know what it is. Smaller set? Elevated seating area? Lack of "natural" props? (i.e. Columbia, surrounding ROA area) Yes, WDW's is a bit more updated, but I don't think the thousands of people who line up for DL's version every showing mind that the clips are from classic films rather than newer updated movies. It's refreshing. Besides, WOC takes care of the newer movies.
Soarin' is definitely best front row center. When we took my parents for the first time we were going to request that to the CM and as soon as I said that this was their first time the CM pulled us to the side and had us wait for just the section we were hoping for. (Total magical moment... :) )
Since hubby and I have been on it so many times, we usually will go with the flow and sit wherever we're placed, but sometimes we will request the front row (even if it's not the center section).

There is nothing that I will not ride, Although there are rides that I would not ride because of the lines and excitement factor.
I have not returned to WDW since a few attractions have been added.

You should reconsider WDW's Fantasmic. It really is a good show :D
And different, too. I used to love only DL's but last trip, I really enjoyed the differences. I don't like to wait on a long line for it, so I'll go to the second show, but when I do, it's fun.

The hardest part for me to get over is the music changes. The DL version seems to flow better, and the WDW version just seems too choppy to me. I know, I know. It's because I was spoiled by seeing the original so much. I did try and enjoy WDW's version (even knowing there were 2 of my fave elements missing from the get go), but it just didn't happen. I guarantee though, whenever we get to go back we will definitely go see it again.

I agree that the DLR version seems to flow better than the WDW version...

HISTA hasn't been around for a while now... Replaced with a show even more out of date (captain eo) with "updated" (and I use that term very loosely) effects that were used in HISTA.
Hmph, you don't say. Last time I went on that was '07? Well, I hear that Captain EO show all the time on here.. ugh.

Yes agreed... ask a castmember to sit in the first row in the middle. Then you will be the highest row up, with no feet dangling above you and right in the center. This is truely one of my favorite rides at WDW!

Watch my YouTube video of the entire movie! Maybe you will change your mind about Soarin'!

I can attest to this. When we were there in 2009 we ended up on the far right end...on the bottom row. It was a huge letdown. On our second or third day to Epcot we asked the CM if we could sit in the middle section on the top row. She had us step to the side and we waited on the next group. It was totally worth the extra wait and DW and I did the same thing on our trip last year. I will always do this from now on. It also gives you time to talk to the CMs which is always fun.
That's probably why I didn't like it. :mickey: I actually recall riding it two times, but each of those were on the mid/lower left hand side. But it's pretty cool they let you choose where you want to go if asked. I thought it was just for the more thrill - such as RnR'r coaster, ToT and EE. D'oh! I'll let you guys know in the next couple years if and when I visit.

Yeah, I wouldn't classify Soarin' as a thrill ride, more of an immersive experience with the wind in your face, the gentle rocking movements, the aromas...

Soarin' is the idea that you're gliding on Hang Glider, not flying in jet fighter. That's why, as Amy says, "the gentle rocking motion"...

I have only seen the WDW version of Fantasmic, (a DL trip is on my bucket list, since i live on the east coast), but i do have a recording of the music from a CD set I found. I liked it, really i did....but WDW has Maleficent and that makes it better to me.
