An ice cold beer is amazing at the end of a long race. It is refreshing, has carbs your body can use, and it helps to numb the pain. You just don't need a lot of it because you'd probably pass out due to the alcohol going straight to your blood.
Maybe it's me then!? I don't care for it right at the end of a race! But hey, to each his own!

As recommended by chocaholics everywhere.
Due to a lack of chocolate milk I had to substitute chocolate doughnuts after my run today. Yum.
I'm not loosing much weight though

How curious?! Are you eating the whole doughnut? Hole and all? That could be it ~ you need to remember to spit out the hole

Put a doughnut within arms reach of me and you will have to watch your fingers, nothing is going to get spat out

OK
We all had the chance to choose the medal for the 2011 Marathon.
Two were the classic Mickey medals in the traditional Mickey head shape they had enameled insets and looked terrific.
This was the third option

cheap pressed tin depicting Mickey falling over something.
How did it get chosen? I am so disappointed.
I wanted a Mickey medal so badly I was willing to run 26.2 miles to get one.
I really don't want this one at all

You are still going to run though right Joe?!

I would agree that it almost looks like Mickey is tripping over the 2011 ribbon. But it looks nice though. And maybe they will tweak it a little between now and the race.
Do they allow only the participants to choose? I've never seen this before...

I payed my entry money before they announced the competition for the medal design. You don't get your money back if you withdraw from the race, so if I do go and race I'll just have to plod around and enjoy the parks and get lots of photos with characters. The finish will just be a total letdown and I'm never going to wear this medal

( e-bay

I may get some of my money back) I was so disappointed when my flight got canceled and I couldn't get to this years race. Now I'm already disappointed with next years race. This Walt Disney World Marathon was supposed to be a happy experience. So far it has been everything but. If I ever get the chance to do this race again I will wait to see what the medal is going to be like before I enter, because if it looks like this, I'm

not

entering

. I will be looking at my travel insurance to see if how much canceling the whole trip will cost me.
Anyone who logged onto the web page got to vote, and they got to vote as often as they wanted for the medal of their choice. (one vote per day). No race entry required

which seemed a wrong.

I know what you're saying Joe, this medal is not impressive, and it's supposed to be. But, any marathon finish is not a let down, it's a HUGE accomplishment!!!

And the medal still has Mickey Mouse on it which makes it cuter than most marathon medals

I agree Amy, but when you train and run a Disney Marathon, you expect a certain level of coolness! This medal does not cut it!
I have 3 Disney medals and they are all awesome! Including one Duck, that is my most prized medal! Second would be my ToT medal, the little elevator actually goes up/down. Too cool, especially now since they've discontinued that race.

I agree.
I have seen nicer pin trading lanyard medals.
Look at the character artwork and the level detailing on these two.
I think the Marathon medal could have been so much better.

So where is the pic of the ToT medal?
