They should have left it alone thats all I have to say. But this just makes the people who like the old version have to go to california to get it. It's a Marketing thing. All to make $.

You've got to admit, Iago is kinda funny... especially at the end of the show when he's telling everyone to get out. If you stick around after everyone has left the theater, there's some really funny stuff.

I agree some of the attractions should not be themed to movies. They seem more professional that way.

Not only professional, but a simple reminder that Disney isn't JUST movies, it's a lot more.

And I agree they shouldn't have to tie everything to the movies... but they felt the update was needed, and while they made a misstep at least they didn't completley ruin it, IMO. They added some more humour, and some neat effects...

that said, i still miss the old one.

i dont think theming things to movies make them not look professional e.g. pirates. great ride. good upgrade. still great.

Even though I don't mind the updates usually, because the Imagineers have a deserved reputation for quality, but the Tiki Room is sort of pieced together with the new and the old in a way that, well, it's not the quality of entertainment that the original show had. They need to rethink that one!

I would not touch it again. I can see what they were doing by leaving the Disneyland Tiki Room the origional and changing WDW. But I dont think they should touch it... yet at least

Bring back the old Tiki-Room!!! I remember my little brother dancing in the seats of the show back in the late 1970's. Its a great memory that I will never forget. When my family starts to tell stories of past, this and riding IF YOU HAD WINGS always seems to come up!

I have nothing to compare the new Tiki Room with, for I haven't even seen the original. I will be this summer when I go to Disneyland. It's still the original over there, right?

As I understand it, it's a slightly shortened version of the original, but it's otherwise the same as it was when it opened. No obnoxious birds out in CA. I envy you getting to go see it; I need to haul my husband out there sometime as he's never seen the original either.

I agree, the original version was so much better than current version. Hopefully they will change it back sometime.

We seem to appreciate the DLR version better, however our 5 year old likes to break out and say "if you mess with polynesia, the tiki gods will squeeze ya", so it must have left some kind of impact on him, lol :) - blue

I love them both, but strongly prefer the old version. I think attractions based on Disney movies is 1) smart from a marketing perspective but 2) crass from a originality perspective. For instance, Voyage of the Little Mermaid is a retelling of the movie story, where I would enjoy a new original story much more.

I love tiki, but wished they had never updated it or done so in a different direction?
