Have you not been reading? Most of us feel this way. But the non-regulars who bring most of the money to Disney don't see the decline happening. Basically, Disney can get away with it.Hathaway wrote:I apologize for any excess cynicism, but this topic makes most of my WDW trips bittersweet at some point.

The only thing that makes me a little bit hopeful is that I used to talk like this a decade or so ago and most people thought I was just being overly picky and cranky. Now that more and more people are noticing, there is the tiniest bit of chance that the suits might actually do something about it...
...although, knowing them, I can see them doing something like abandoning the Annual Pass, since it's their most loyal patrons who are making the complaints...drive them away and the complaints will drop significantly.

My complaints would only get louder if they ever did that. I would most likely form a large group of investor's and take over the board room. Granted this would take some doing but I would certainly work the rest of my life on achieving that goal.Captain Schnemo wrote:...although, knowing them, I can see them doing something like abandoning the Annual Pass, since it's their most loyal patrons who are making the complaints...drive them away and the complaints will drop significantly.

Well, it's been about 18 months since my last trip and I'm really missing it. I am totally in agreement with you guys regarding the state of quality at Disney but I have to say I would take it any way I could get it right now. Looks like next year sometime before I can go back.

Wow, can you imagine the riots that would ensue if they took APs away from us? I would go postal.Dr. Ravenscroft wrote:My complaints would only get louder if they ever did that. I'll be happy when the wand comes down, if only to focus more attention on the more substantial things wrong with Epcot.
Also I could not disagree more about a Star Wars-themed park. Never mind that it isn't Disney, the majority of the films suck. And basing a whole park on a single property is really just the ultimate in intellectual laziness.
The Nara Dreamland link is a must-see for any Disney fan. It really twists your brain into a pretzel. It is just so not-right.

On the surface there is hunger and fear. Men still exercise unjust laws. They fight, tear one another to pieces. A mere few feet beneath the waves their reign ceases, their evil drowns. Here on the ocean floor is the only independence.
There's 6 movies, 3,4,5,6 were good. That's not the majority "sucking"Captain Schnemo wrote:Also I could not disagree more about a Star Wars-themed park. Being a Star Wars fan I think a park would be fantastic but not on Disney property. What's Disney in that? That's along the lines of them building a Lord of the Rings park. While Star Tours and Jedi Academy are great, the idea of building a park, again, would look like Disney has run out of ideas. Which, at times, it appears Disney has lost a while ago.

How about a Disney Villains park. Make it a park with lots of Roller Coasters and scarier rides. Then we wouldn't have to take our now teens to IOA!subsonic wrote:There's 6 movies, 3,4,5,6 were good. *recovers from laughing at the 'cat with big ears' in the Shijingshan Amusement Park article*
I think building a Star Wars-themed park is a terrible idea. Just ... no. It doesn't even sort of fit in with the concept of a Disney park, imo. I wouldn't be opposed, however, if they wanted to make a new 'land' at MGM and expand what they already have there around Star Tours (particularly if it involved finally revamping the Star Tours ride itself). The theming they have around it and the associated gift shop is some of the best at MGM and the Star Wars 'universe' would certainly give them a lot to work with.
I'm still skeptical they could do it 'right' and make it fit though, even if Lucasfilm et. al. would agree to such a thing. It would be a challenge to make it flow with the rest of the park and not have it be like, 'Disney Disney Disney RANDOM OUTSIDE THING Disney Disney'. It might also set a bad precedent for basing areas on one franchise - albeit one that has some proven staying power (I'm not sure I'd say the same thing about Harry Pottter).
A Disney Villains park'd be a much better idea. There'll always be more villains. Imagine the terrifying roller coaster with the Michael Eisner AA chasing you through the dark. *shudder*
