Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
I knew I should have ridden Snow White in December as I had heard the rumors of it closing sometime in February... Oh well. Bring on the Mine Train Coaster!!!

And we were right there on Dec 4th as the park was closing down around us! I bet we could have still gotten on it anyway if we convinced the CM to let us...NaCler wrote:I knew I should have ridden Snow White in December as I had heard the rumors of it closing sometime in February... Hey, if the Mouskecouple and their Mouseyfriends managed to get their own personal queue for Spaceship Earth, there is no doubt in my mind that the awesome Mayhem Marauders could have gotten their own personal Snow White tourmindflipper wrote:And we were right there on Dec 4th as the park was closing down around us! Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
This update makes the Snow White mine train sound pretty fun...swinging ride vehicles on the train...
And is it just the way it is illustrated, or is the one Dumbo larger with more pachyderms than the other?!

I'm surprised I haven't seen more outrage at the thought of Snow White closing, but I kind of feel the same way. The Mine Train Coaster sounds like a lot more fun than Scary Adventures. I miss Mr. Toad's Wild Ride more than I will miss Snow White. Brring on the Mine Train Coaster indeed!:)NaCler wrote:I knew I should have ridden Snow White in December as I had heard the rumors of it closing sometime in February... Oh well. Remember, Fantasyland is geared towards small children, not adults or teenagers. I expect the mine train coaster will be designed with that target audience in mind just like the original ride.Brian845 wrote:I'm surprised I haven't seen more outrage at the thought of Snow White closing, but I kind of feel the same way. I'm no roller coaster fanatic, so I'm quite happy with a tame ride:). And I'm talking about fun with my young kids in mind, actually. I'm only sorry it won't be ready for our trip this summer.mindflipper wrote:Remember, Fantasyland is geared towards small children, not adults or teenagers. Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
I would guess it will still exclude a lot of families now with a roller coaster ride instead of a dark ride. I know that could be scary for children but at least it was still just on a level plane whereas the roller coaster isn't. Time will tell, but it does sound fun.mindflipper wrote:Remember, Fantasyland is geared towards small children, not adults or teenagers. I have to admit that projection system can project some pretty bright vivid colors for being so far away!

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
i too look forward to the mine coaster, but replacing snow white for a meet and greet makes me nervous. i was sad when they took away toad's wildrider, now this. whenever you lose an original, you increase the risk of losing more originals, kinda like a buffer zone. yes, snow white was certainly a main choice if you had to pick an original to give up, but now you're that much closer to losing (in some distant future) maybe the carousel of progress or some other cherished "old" ride? let's face it, attendance is hardly large for that one, most times you share the show w/ one other family. yet the loss of c.o.p. would really hurt, it's like the most sound link w/ walt at the parks. everytime i ride it, i feel like i'm back on a sunday night (growing up) watching walt disney presents. man i'd hate to lose that, even for a really "great" ride.

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
You make a great point - what is truely "sacred" and what's not? Disney has shown that even major E Ticket rides like POTC and the HM aren't immune when they made changes during past renovations which included adding Jack Sparrow to one, and Constance the Black Widow Bride to the other. EPCOT has lost so many of its original rides that we've grown used to the idea - I guess we can expect the same can now happen to Fantasyland as well...nicklesm17 wrote:i too look forward to the mine coaster, but replacing snow white for a meet and greet makes me nervous. i was sad when they took away toad's wildrider, now this. whenever you lose an original, you increase the risk of losing more originals, kinda like a buffer zone. yes, snow white was certainly a main choice if you had to pick an original to give up, but now you're that much closer to losing (in some distant future) maybe the carousel of progress or some other cherished "old" ride? let's face it, attendance is hardly large for that one, most times you share the show w/ one other family. yet the loss of c.o.p. would really hurt, it's like the most sound link w/ walt at the parks. everytime i ride it, i feel like i'm back on a sunday night (growing up) watching walt disney presents. man i'd hate to lose that, even for a really "great" ride.

I always hold my breath about the carousel of progress because I love it so and I see the low attendance and fear for it's longevity. I too feel like it is one of the most direct links to Walt!nicklesm17 wrote:i too look forward to the mine coaster, but replacing snow white for a meet and greet makes me nervous. i was sad when they took away toad's wildrider, now this. whenever you lose an original, you increase the risk of losing more originals, kinda like a buffer zone. yes, snow white was certainly a main choice if you had to pick an original to give up, but now you're that much closer to losing (in some distant future) maybe the carousel of progress or some other cherished "old" ride? let's face it, attendance is hardly large for that one, most times you share the show w/ one other family. yet the loss of c.o.p. would really hurt, it's like the most sound link w/ walt at the parks. everytime i ride it, i feel like i'm back on a sunday night (growing up) watching walt disney presents. man i'd hate to lose that, even for a really "great" ride.
