Is it still used today? I know it was used during the Year of a Million Dreams as a giveaway to chosen families...but is it still used?
Wheel of Fortune just finished a Disney week and their main prize was a trip to WDW complete with a stay in the Castle Suite, so like Soarin' said, it looks like it is still used for promotions.

And the video where he talks about being banned.....

I checked out the River Country video & Wonders of life...seemed harmless, (and incredibly boring) . But then I thought, what if I had a business of some sort, and some strange nosey dude kept sneaking behind the counter, snooping around the storeroom, and just generally being a creepy, pain in the a**? I would kick him off my property, and tell him he was no longer welcome, (probably wouldn't use those words), and call the police if he showed up again...why should Disney be any different?

Are there really many others like this lurking in the "employees only" areas of Disney? WOW !

No idea, but the only reason disney was aware was when the news showed up and asked for comment. Considering the large number of unlocked doors and lacking security cameras outside of guest and merch areas (since it would be silly to guard an empty building) you could probably do the same and not get caught.

Get over yourselves, people.
Entitlement is the name of the game for 99.9% of guests. You can't even imagine. That's all I hear all day long. I don't care how much money you spent to come here. You aren't owed ANYTHING. Disney is above all else a business and like all other businesses in this world, there are things that go on behind the scenes that are restricted to the people who work there. It's like they can't STAND it. That was a big problem prior to New Fantasyland. "I'm an annual passholder. I DESERVE to get to see all this first!" No you don't, you have to wait your turn like everyone else.

BRAVO!!! Well stated Soarin08. :goofy:

If the local news didn't pick it up and allowed it to make a national human interest story, would they have?

I don't think Disney is in the market to promote negative press. :goofy: :?

A lifetime ban? Yikes. But a slap on the wrist? Perhaps if you were a guest roaming the guest halls of a resort you weren't staying at, but not full on trespassing of closed off restricted areas - documenting it, no less.

I do hope for his sake they reconsider.. but in the end.. :?

I certainly hope they don't reconsider. He deserves it.

In fact we had another trespasser this morning... Orange County was on his butt quicker than you could blink. Tailed the guy all the way to a backstage area on Main Street. It's sick what people think they can do.

I guess picturing myself in his shoes. Heck, I'd rather be charged, arrested and locked up! Though, yeah, I don't think Disney is being unfair or anything like that. There's a lot more to it than just 'trespassing'. Leaking information that Disney doesn't want out, safety concerns + potential liability if they were to get hurt, encouraging this behavior, etc. Pretty serious stuff!

Do you have a link/article to the second person caught?
