Hmmmm....I do love Mexico to. Like you said, when you are in the marketplace it is so amazing...like you really are...well....THERE! I've never eaten an San Angel. We've considered it every single trip we've made (at least 5 or 6)...but we never actually DO it. Should we?theBIGyowski wrote:The more I think about it...and the more I watch videos on YouTube of WS countries...
I have to stick with Mexico. Because most of it is inside...you can truly get lost and completely forget you are in America...much less Epcot. Even better if you eat at San Angel Inn at a table by the water.
Wow...this is REALLY making me wish I was there right now!

It's a tradition of mine to eat there...and I have on every single trip.DisneyYorkie wrote:Hmmmm....I do love Mexico to. I love it...but you have to remember that it is more authentic Mexican cuisine...and not really what you would get at your local Mexican restaurant. The food at San Angel Inn will have more flavor and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. It is much, much more expensive than your local Mexican restaurant, but the quality is that much better as well. If I were a local, I wouldn't eat there very often just because there are other great restaurants in WS. But, since I only go every 12-18 months, it's something nice to do. I would suggest going during the off-season so you can request a table by the river when you check-in. Going during that time will hopefully mean you won't have to wait forever to get that good table.

I love them all for many different reasons, but I'd choose Japan. The sake and sushi and views from the restaurant are the best! I have some great memories of working Candlelight and racing up there between shows to "warm up" with a quick swig of house sake before heading back to the stage.
Yum!

I think they maybe figured out some people would simply leave during the movie anyhow and it is less disturbing to those trying to watch the movie to leave the doors open? I know I missed the beginning of the movie this past time so I actually stayed to watch the whole thing and watched people just stream through.figmentaholic wrote:Admittedly I hadn't ridden the Maelstrom in a few years, but when did they start keeping the theater at the end of the ride open, so you can just come and go as you please? Ah, okay, so it was a pretty recent development. I figured that it was. I think your idea is probably correct, that people were getting bored of it and leaving in the middle anyways, so why not leave it open, in a way it is a little distracting, but it is still watchable of course.
We came in close to the end when we rode, so I didnt watch too much of it. I like Norway, but I never liked the film like I love O Canada or Impressions De France.
Thanks for the info.

It's fantastic! But I think I like La Hacienda better, the one outside with the QSR place.DisneyYorkie wrote:Hmmmm....I do love Mexico to. My favourite country is Norway. I love Maelstrom and I watch Spirit of Norway after every ride. I never skip the movie. I also speak a little bit norwegian and my firstname is very popular in Norway and Germany.

Love Maelstrom!
The attraction opened in 1988...has the movie at the end been updated since then? It reeks of the late 80s/early 90s. I love it...for its nostalgic quality...but it is a bit cheesy.

I really need to watch the Norway movie again. It has been years since I haven't walked right through the theater...
Next time I will have to stop and watch it.

I rode Maelstrom twice this past trip, so I'd say Norway is one of my favorites. However, Japan takes the cake.

My vote goes to Mexico. I love being "outside at night" no matter what the weather is like outside the pavilion. I also love the mariachi band!

It is sort of fun to be inside the pavilion and always have it be a clear starry night no matter how hot or rainy it is outsidedwellsbct wrote:My vote goes to Mexico. I love being "outside at night" no matter what the weather is like outside the pavilion. I also love the mariachi band!

Re: Favorite World Showcase Pavillions
Its kinda weird.. I never really thought too much about Norway, but I recently got a new boss- who is from Norway.. So when I went to Disney this year and we visited the Norway Pavilion, it was with a fresh set of eyes.
It still isn't my favorite pavilion.. (I initially thought Italy since I am half Italian, but I think I would change my vote now to Japan), but I think I will appreciate it more now.

I think my favorite might be Japan, just because I love the department store. It's hard to pick one though, because there are different parts of each one that I like.

I do eally enjoy the pavilions where you can really immerse yourself - UK, Mexico, Morocco, etc. Although, one the places that I have the best memories of are Norway since my entire enjoys Norway. The bakery is a geat place to pick up a snack for back at the hotel.
