Quick dining question - I am going in January and we received the free dining plan. I've never used the dining plan in any way, shape or form, so I just wanted to ask a question...
In looking at what you receive from it - is it true that for the TS and Signature Restaurants - as a child age 3-9 you receive an appetizer, entree, dessert and non-alc bev? But as an adult you only receive an entree, dessert and non-alc bev?
I just didn't quite understand that.
Or is it different because a child chooses from a completely different menu?

Looking at the brochure for the dining plan it looks like you are correct. I know it states pretty clearly that guests 3-9 must order from the children's menu if you is available, but otherwise it does look like a child also gets an appetizer. Perhaps that is so they are occupied while waiting for the entree??

Hmmm who knows.

It might just be that they have a significantly smaller meal, so they have all three courses of the meal.
We'll see what happens when I get there in January! Can't wait!!

There was a great discussion on the WDW Today podcast today about the dining plan. For 2012 the prices have gone up and the quick service plan has stayed the same with 1 snack being eliminated. They really explained my personal feelings about the disney dining plan.

Great job done by Matt and everyone else. I highly recommend listening to it!

Sounds like an interesting one to listen to. Do you have a link or will I find it easily with a google search?

I caught it today by listening to the scheduled stream here on sub, but you can download them by going to wdwtoday.com. Definitely worth a listen!

I hope everything is the same for the people who have already booked for 2012.

Usually, with booked stuff, your accomodations will remain unchanged as it's a contract. So if prices go up or service goes down your package won't be impacted.

That sounds right. What a bummer if you were planning on the two snacks currently included. That works well for us since F1gment needs to eat three meals so she burns through her two meal/day allowance and some of my meals so I can get by with some snacks...

Anyone know if you eat at Narcossee's and use your two table service points - if you can order the lobster? Or is there any type of extra charge to do that??

Looking at the menu, it doesn't seem like there would be an upcharge for lobster. It would appear they are already covering that by requiring that you use 2 table service points!
