I actually think they should keep both...but they probably won't. I am just happy the bridge is finally flat!

My pleasure! And I agree with mindflipper ~ it is nice that the bridge is flat since that really was a difficult bridge to navigate with a wheelchair, or ECV, or I'm assuming a fully-loaded stroller

Something you can't see in those pics I noticed yesterday: there is a slight "downslope" feel from Main Street Hub into Adventureland.

Now that you mention that, you can sort of see a slight downward incline in the last two photos. Going back up that incline wouldn't be too bad though.

Since I don't see new walls up am I to assume the second bridge is staying too?

None at all. I didn't even notice while on the bridge. I noticed when stepping on both the end of the bridge and the Adventureland pavement.

I almost wonder if the original "humped" design had to do with those Swan Boats from when MK originally opened?

Did those swan boats go through there?

Yes, the swan boats went from the dock over towards Cosmic Rays under the castle bridge, under the Liberty Square bridge, under Adventureland, and then back towards the dock near tomorrowland.

Actually, now that I'm writing this, I realize, same path, just opposite direction.

Yep, it started a dock opposite Cosmic Ray's of Tomorrowland, went under the Tomorrowland bridge, then under MS, then Adventureland, Lib. Sq., and would turn around near the castle and go back the same way it went. Here's some details from Wiki:
