It's not Ellen that I dislike, it's the attraction as a whole that is lacking and is desperately in need of a complete reconceptualization.

I miss the old preshow that was designed by Emil Radok with all the slide projectors and the cubes that went in and out. Nightmare to maintain, but amazing to watch.

Anyone remember that?
Very much so!

In fact, there are 3 things I truly remember about the old UoE (I was 13 y/o at the time)...
1) The pre-show. I was amazed by the cubes...who needs 3-D?
2) The dinosaurs...who doesn't? (I don't really care if they're there or not, but it's hard to miss 'em)
3) The fact that the vehicles were powered by solar energy from the panels on the roof.

As far as the Ellen version goes, I love the preshow, but I'm with momeja about the rest...it kinda puts me to sleep. (the original did too, but I figured it was due to a busy schedule)

I did like the original Radok cube opening pre-show to the old Universe of Energy. :D :mickey:

You'd think they still would be... guess not.

I believe they still are. I just mentioned what I took away from it at 13 y/o...otherwise it was boring to me....still is.

open a new attraction where Ellen's Energy Adventure is or where the old Body Wars was. Ellen is extremely outdated and the other pavillion is only used seasonally.

(1) Restore Journey Into Imagination!!! JII is one of few extinct attractions that I actually support returning (I know, call me a new-agey guy, but hey, most of the stuff that's gone at least needed some kind of serious upgrading)
(2) Fix the ending of Spaceship Earth ... I really don't mind most of the ride, even with the upgrades (I was actually quite impressed in January), but the descent is really quite depressing ... they had a perfect opportunity to bring back Tomorrow's Child, which is really a beautiful song, and they MISSED it.
(3) Do *SOMETHING* with Universe of Energy other than what's there now. I'm talking completely redo it. Even the dinosaurs. I never really understood why there were dinos there in the first place, and they scared me as a kid ... when I was brave enough to sit through Universe of Energy with my eyes open, I could do the same for Dinosaur, at which point I thought it was boring (except I was a Jeopardy nerd back then :P) I just think they can do something far better with the space.
(4) Put SOMETHING open at the Wonders of Life building, either reopen it or put something else permanent there, but my word! Do SOMETHING there!!! It's hard looking at something like that and knowing that it's just a dead building!
(5) Put some kind of ride attraction on the right-hand side of World Showcase - I've thought for awhile that World Showcase was quite unbalanced in this sense, and when I was younger I hardly paid any attention from France to the US - didn't even go into any part of Morocco except the restrooms until this past January. Apologies to all the people who think that rides take away from that sort of thing, but it just doesn't feel ... balanced, I guess.

I had forgotten about the pre-show to UOE. Thanks for the video link ExDisneyTech, that was cool to see again! I'm thinking that screen was a pain to maintain - that is a lot of moving parts...love that song too :D

Oh my the Radok preshow. Memories. Sigh... it was so awesome.

I agree that Energy needs a lot of work. The only reason I ever go in is to see the dinos, and you only get a precious few minutes with them. Too much movie and not enough dinos.

I loved that preshow!

I am probably one of the few who could do without the dinos...(see the "new Mickey...talking thingy" thread...you'll understand)

Thanks again for the info mindflipper! ;)

One small thing I would change would be the entrance. Bring back the old fountain! That prehistoric rock THING just does not fit in future world, besides it is so UGLY!!!! I wish they could somehow, someway, bring back Horizons. They should be able to, learning from their mistakes, and with new technolegies.

The only reason I ever go in there is to take a break in the ac or take a nap! lol

I agree w/ you Sharon, the entrance really should be re-done - I hate walking through the maze of memorials out there.

As someone remarked earlier or in another thread, those entrance way stones look like tombstones and give the whole area a creepy graveyard feeling. It's like the Vietnam War memorial wall in D.C., except you get to buy your way on it instead of having given your life honorably in the service of your country. When you copy that kind of idea for a money-making scheme, it's just tasteless.

Yeah...move the entrance stones outside of the park...before you go through the gates. MK did this with the pavement stones outside of the TTC.

How do you do, You All

I would like to see Epcot host a Bluegrass Festival. After all Bluegrass music is an American Tradition born in the USA. I cannot think of a better place than the American Adventure and the American Gardens Theater. “Like the food and wine festival”, Venders from all over the US could feature food and beverages from their home State and every State should be represented. The stage where off kilter performs could be utilized along with niches throughout the park. I believe this idea to be very doable and would bring revenue to the parks.

If you like the Country Bears Then you’ll love Epcots All American Bluegrass Festival.
