We always close out the trip at the MK and is typically at closing since we leave mid-morning the next day. I am thinking this is not the way to go anymore since it makes the entire night have that "not so great" feel to it. I am thinking we need to book our flights for later in the day and do a park for 1/2 day. That way we get our full enjoyment of that last night without feeling it was the end.

I usually try to plan my last day at Epcot, this way I can watch Illuminations, take in all of the BGM as guests leave the park, and try to be one of the last people out so I can get some great pics and well....don't tell anyone...but sometimes I cry..there I said it..I CRY!!!!! OK, just a few tears....

I'll keep your secret safe. I do say every time we leave the parks I always leave a trail of tears on Main Street USA. I guess it is the shock of going back to reality.yodiwan1 wrote:I usually try to plan my last day at Epcot, this way I can watch Illuminations, take in all of the BGM as guests leave the park, and try to be one of the last people out so I can get some great pics and well....don't tell anyone...but sometimes I cry..there I said it..I CRY!!!!! Going back to reality is definately the worst part. You really can get caught up in that world during your stay. Even though we drive there, we usually don't go off property during our trip so after a week of being on Disney property and going back into the "real word" isn't fun AT ALL.Len90 wrote: I do say every time we leave the parks I always leave a trail of tears on Main Street USA. We always end a Disney day at Epcot. After the fireworks, we take a very leisurely stroll out to the exit, enjoying the music, fountains, lights and general ambience. By the time we get out to the transportation area, the lines for the buses have usually diminished.
These late evening strolls through Epcot are truly among the most magical moments we spend at WDW. Some of my best memories come from this time: watching the Fountain of Nations, admiring Spaceship Earth, watching my DD (in her younger days) dance and twirl amid the kaleidoscopic lights in the pavement in the Innoventions plaza while the music plays. I just can't think of a better way to end a day at WDW.

It really is depressing when you drive off the property and look back at the entrance gate into WDW. My family and I always make sure we wave good-bye every time we leave the property on the way to the airport.spodie wrote:Going back to reality is definately the worst part. One night after having dinner at the castle, our family(13 of us in all) were the very last people in the park! We were the only people on Main Street USA! The only other people present were the cast members and they wished us all a good night! We laughed, we sang and we danced all the way out of the park and to our cabin at Fort Wilderness! We were the only ones on the bus that night and the driver seemed to enjoy the ride just as much as we did! Thats a great way to leave the park!

We were the last ones to leave EPCOT one night. I mean we didn't leave the park until almost 11:30. We saw the burn off for the fireworks barge, the bridge open so the barge could go back behind to where they keep it, and watched as they did maintenance of the fountains by the ball. We also watch the fireworks at the MK from Italy.
There were CM's around but nobody rushed us and one pointed out a few things to us. When we got out pass the gate they had a bus to all the different resorts. It was a very Disney moment, seeing all those buses waiting just for us.

I was going to answer"kicking and screaming and crying like a baby!!" well that's what I feel like doing!lovesdisney44 wrote:"G2-4T"Umm - thru the exit. Oh wait, that wasn't the question!
You got me! I guess when I typed the question, I didn't think it through. I got a good chuckle out of it though. My sixteen year old just looked at me like I was nuts (laughing @ the computer screen and all)!

For the Magic Kingdom, we do what many others do: we watch the castle for awhile, then slowly walk to the front, eating and shopping all the way. At the end of Main Street, it is one last look at the beautiful castle (sometimes during the special "Kiss Goodnight") and a relaxing stroll to the transportaion of choice. If it is our last night, yes, there are tears.
For Epcot, we usually exit by the World Showcase and take a boat to the Boardwalk. We wander the shops and the hotel, then take a bus to Downtown Disney Marketplace. There, we wander, shop and eat for a little while, then take another bus to our hotel. (Or boat, in the case of Port Orleans.)
