Wow Schnemo...I don't think I have ever seen anyone so negative about Disney. It might not be perfect...but it's a helluvalot better than most of what's outside the gates if you ask me...and pretty much everyone else here.

Oh sure, I agree about that. But that doesn't mean we need to shut our brains down and not take a closer look at what they're doing.theBIGyowski wrote:It might not be perfect...but it's a helluvalot better than most of what's outside the gates if you ask me...
Haven't you ever spent an hour in the parking lot after a movie (good or bad), talking about what worked and what didn't with your friends?
Thinking is fun!

^ I agree, Schnemo, thinking is fun. It pains me to see Disney declining by degrees and becoming another company run by a gaggle of executives who resemble Dilbert's pointy-haired boss. Unfortunately, there's not much I can do about it other than vote with my wallet.
But to change the subject back to Soarin, I wouldn't mind seeing the film tweaked slightly to give us some transition between scenes, even if its just a wipe or a fade (although hopefully Disney can do better). As it is now, the jarring cut from scene to scene reminds you that you're really watching a movie, not flying.

That's a good point Future Guy. I have wondered the same thing. The transitions are very hard and the only reason they work at all is because of the music. Maybe they could have transitions using clouds or water spraying up or use passing mountains. Something would be nice I agree. I love the ride though and if it weren't for the long lines I would have ridden it a dozen times the last time I was there.

That was my main complaint about Soarin'. You'd just be getting into a scene and then BAM change. I didn't really think the individual components were long enough in general, either.
Soarin' is really the first attraction I've ever wished I hadn't been on the 'net for, because I expected so much from it and ended up being let down. Forums are a dangerous thing, sometimes.

Soarin' in my opinion is another example of an amazing Disney ride in the wrong place. It has more to do with American Adventure than it has to do with the Land. Soarin' Around the World would be awesome, just maintain the soundtrack. But, if we were to change to worldwide Soarin', it better be moved to the World Showcase. There's a certain building between Canada and the U.K. that isn't being used much *whistles*

I was under the impression they were still using the Millenium Pavilion for events. The Party for the Senses was (is?) in there for this year's Food and Wine, right? It seems to have gone the way of the Odyssey and WoL (which makes me wonder why they need that much room for events...).DIAC1987 wrote:There's a certain building between Canada and the U.K. that isn't being used much *whistles*
I do agree that would have been (heck, would be) a good place to put in something that caters to people not involved in hard ticketed events and/or conferences, though. I think it'll be a cold day in ... Orlando when they relocate Soarin' though.

Eco Friendly cars? NO THANKS! Why not have people run the track, that will expend some energy on the peoples part, ooops! Can't do that because of the carbon footprint that people will put out from breathing to heavy. We need to ban beans and broccoli as well, people produce to much methane gas from eating these item.
I like Soarin and the smells that go with the ride but having maybe another movie option would be cool. Nope can't do that because of the carbon footprint that will go into making the video. Disney is going to have to be careful of cap and trade and producing to much carbon.

Trying is an excuse to fail! Just go and do it!
The only thing I think would've been cooler about Soarin' is in the scene with the skiers at Lake Tahoe (I believe it's Lake Tahoe), instead of the shot going up the mountain, have it be going downhill, following the skiers. Know what I mean?
Other than that.... Soarin' falls in the category of rides that are true Disney perfection (such as the HM and ToT).

I agree with Schnemo, thinking is fun. Thats why they need to get rid of things like HSM and Hanna Montana. They really dont make anything that requires thought, or, dosent involve stereotypes. Now grant you Enchanted is funny. But can you belive that kids take HSM and HM seriously. It pains me to ask kids about old movies that Disney made and have them say that they never heard of it. For instance 20k leagues under the sea? It was educational as well as imaginative.
Now for my rumors:
1. For the 40th anniversary I heard that something maybe done to JII.
2. Captain Nemo is coming back to AK when the economy gets better. They are going to make the Jouney to the Center of the Earth ride. The same as in Tokyo.
3. The newpark that people have heard the rumors of is way off what I have heard (I think). I heard it would be a ..(brace yourselves)... boutique park.Dont ask me why I havent gotten any details but it seems that the princesses are more popular than the villans.

You mean a new 20,000 Leagues ride in AK? Where would it go? And would it actually be a submarine ride, like the old attraction, or some kind of simulator? The old ride was conceived and built before the term "handicapped accessible" was in common usage; if they were to build a "new and improved" version from the ground up wouldn't it have to be substantially different to accommodate "differently abled" guests?Son of Dreamfinder wrote: 2. Nope it was journey to the center of the earth and disney put out a public clue about this with a special about AK that gets played on the travel channel. At the end after talking about everest it says "and who knows whats next", or something to that effect, and shows a computer animated image of a cave and a monsterous worm similar to the one in the Tokyo attraction.
