The restaurant is great if you have ever had authentic Mexican food. It is different (and I think better) than what you get at your local Mexican style restaurant. The atmosphere is second to none and makes you feel like you are outside, in Mexico, at night. You get that feeling just by being inside of the Mexico pavilion...but it reaches its peak there in the restaurant. It is one place that I always eat it...every trip. Oh...and make sure you suggest a table right next to the water...it makes it that much better.cinderella75 wrote:My son and I and my boyfriend love the 3 CabellerosWe have never eatn at the restaurant. It does a get bit tiring, all this "Let's shove a character in every attraction we can" mentality. Hopefully it will play out soon. I too think Epcot is the one place it really takes way from the attraction and it's initial purpose.Admiral01 wrote:Cheesy is out of place at EPCOT all together. EPCOT is supposed to educate while entertaining. The more they remove the educate part of EPCOT, the less entertaining it is I think...
Ellen, Nemo, Donald Duck, and the other Disney character/movie/actor tie-ins haven't enhanced the rides or the park. I used to love going to EPCOT and not being overloaded with Disney characters or recognizable actors. I really do like Disney and their movies. I like the MK and how the charcters are the backbone of that park. I just don't think EPCOT is the right place for that. It sure wasn't Walt's vision of education through entertainment.
I don't mind cheesy, but commercial overload gets me down. I hope they fix Mexico, because your right, that empty stage at the end is horrible.

I don't hate the new version as much as I hate The Seas with Nemo...but I do miss the old version. It could have easily been updated without the need for Donald Duck and the gang. Mexico has so much history and culture, and you don't really get any of that from the ride. Canada got it right I think with their update, but I fear for the Maelstrom and the French movie... I think my dad would actually die of a heart attack if Disney every changed the movie in France. Do a shot for shot update, but don't change the music or the theming of the movie. And leave the Maelstrom ride alone but an updated movie would be ok.

I'm with you! Useless method of sticking characters in every attraction is choking Disney. My husband and I also fear for France and Norway...We think they are doomed. Maybe next we'll see Miss Piggy in France and the Fab 5 sailing in the Maelstrom....

Update
I agree with most here saying that it is a little out of place for the WS, but it gives the kids something to keep their attention. My main reason for liking that ride is just getting out of the heat! I love the mood in the mexico pavilion. I love donald anyway! Disney could have incorporated the 3 cab. into the ride but I think they over did it a bit, basically taking out all the culture and scenes about the history. I like the ride but think they over did the kiddie side of it. for lack of a better term.

I thought it was just me, its so loud I hate to ride it! It just seems to echo off the water and the walls.bdinger wrote:I hate the new version of this ride as well. It's so obnoxious and loud. I feel like I'm being yelled at the entire time. I typically don't mind things being loud, but the voices of the characters in this ride at a loud volume actually make me cringe.
I say bring back the old version of the ride. Sure, it was out of date, but at least it was relaxing and enjoyable.
The quick service stand in Mexico was decent for a quick WS meal. Its not my favorite but the food was good.
The attraction could certainly benefit from some wall treatments or something. I really miss the old version. Yeah, it was cheesy but that's what I loved about it.
