You mention in a different thread that you're about to turn 21. This would put you in the ballpark range of 12-13 years old when the wand went up.
Some of us have memories of a time when "Disney magic" didn't just mean sparkles and cartoons. When Imagineering
was Disney magic at its finest, and SSE was a feat of Imagineering nonpareil. Hopefully, those days are returning.
Spaulo,
You nailed it, I could not have said it better myself.

It made an otherwise boring ball into Disney magic.
It wasn't enough that the ball was a 180 foot geodesic sphere with a ride hidden within it?

I love how Spaceship Earth looks so much bigger now that the wand is halfway removed.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha
Rain upon that planet Earth. And they rain ... and rain ... and rain. The deluge.

It would have been quite amusing if they had just left up the EO for a couple of days.

Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

I will also be pleased to see the wand gone. I like the Hat.....just not where it is. I wouldn't miss it if it disapeared.

Right now it kind of looks like "Welcome to Epcot - Where Sorcerer Mickey will poke you in the eye with this stick."
Can't wait to see the sphere in its original splendor again.

My brother just came back from Disney World, and in some of his photos you can see that the stars and some of the wand are gone.

Hah - good one! Have to wonder how long it will take to make that part fade away. And a time lapse video of the return to the true SSE would be pretty neat to watch...

Wouldn't it be scary if they weren't taking the wand down, just the word Epcot and star?! Maybe replace it with "Dreams".

It appears I'm a little late in seeing this...
I have to say, it's great to see the wand finally coming down. It was a nice thing for the Millennium celebration, but it has definitely worn out its welcome. I'm looking forward to seeing Spaceship Earth returned to its former glory!

The wand was ok for a while, just like the castle cake and the gold castle, but it should have been taken down a long time ago.
