Was there a time that they didn't require new CM's to take "The Basics"?

I would think that would always be required since being friendly and helpful and good customer service is a cornerstone of Disney.

I feel bad for people who've worked with the public so long they have to 'relearn' how to be friendly. >_<

It's good of Disney to do a refresher for people post-Traditions/orientation, though.

I think it's good that they have refresher courses. I worked in a small theme park in Illinios then when I moved to Florida I worked for Busch Gardens for four years. After so long, sometimes you start let guests really start to bother you and you sometimes forget that many of the guests are on their first visit.

I don't think refresher classes should be looked at as a bad thing. I think it should be looked at as a refresh to remind you that you are working for the most magical place on Earth, and making people happy is not such a bad job after all.
