It's a lot of fun, just imagine Big Thunder Mountain going 50mph with a few extra surprises. It's the Materhorn on crack.swarlock wrote:You couldn't get me on that ride even if you cut my hands off.

I've been on it... *thinks* ten times now. I go to AK almost every single weekend and I have never, ever seen it closed.
It's an awesome coaster. Very, very smooth and fast. The front row is amazing. It goes so fast I literally have tears coming out of my eyes when we sit there. My favorite part is the first stop. Where the track appears to be ripped up by the yhetti. If you look over you can see Epcot and MGM. It's very cool.
They've started the countdown. When we were there on Saturday we got the day 1 pins. They only gave out one thousand of them!
Just a tip: We get there every single morning right at park opening. And the first thing EVERYONE heads to is Everest. You'll stand in probably about a ten minute line at first. They only get longer after that and fast passes run out at about noon. Unless you want to do single riders (we waited 30 minutes in the single rider line), you'll be standing in a 70+ minute line.[/code]

Hey did you know, according to Good morning America, today is the opening of Everest and the people waiting in line are the "FIRST" ever to ride it. Talk about dumb, people have been riding the darn thing since what Feb. and it has been thousands of people too. They really needed to re-think their phrasing.

well, in a way, they are the first ones to ride. From the point of view of "Officially opened", thay would be first. Since February, it's been all soft openings, while they're still technically testing everything.

He's right you only get to see him while you go under him really fast! Like he said about or little less than 3 seconds!SysFail wrote:yes yes yes it is true ... I rode Everest this past weekend.![]()

IT ROX!
only thing that sucked was that you only get to see the giant Yeti for about 3 seconds as you go screaming past and he tries to grab you with his HUGE hand

Re: I RODE EVEREST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I rode "Everest". I was not impressed. I did have fun. Rode it 3 times. Had a fast pass, then got in the stand by line as soon as I got off. Wait time was approx. 20 minutes each time. Rode late in the evening while most people were leaving the park. Got a little sick each time (I have motion sickness). Was real glad when park closed and could not ride anymore.

You weren't impressed, but you went on it three times? Or do you mean, it's nothing like totally ground-breaking, but it's a fun ride- worth getting sick on!ericpabear wrote:I rode "Everest". I wish I saw the Discovery Channel special on EE. I saw advertising on it on TV and at DAK though.

Did I mention I have kids. They wanted to ride it again, so I thought I could handle it. It took longer to recover after each ride. After the third time, I was feel'n very green. The ride was fun. I just had greater expectation. I would definately recomend rideing it, but don't wait more than 20 minutes. Get the fast pass, and if you can come back right before the park closes, when every one else is trying to beat each other out of the park, there is hardly any lines, any where.
I haven't been to Disney since the January sneak peek of Everest, which is an amazing coaster in my opinion and oozes Disney Imagineering. What's the impact on the morning rush over at Kimimanjaro now as that seemed to be the hot spot to "run to" right when the park opened?
