Yes it is. Disney loves to put a spin on everything. We aren't custodians, we're showkeepers. Protein spill does sound a lot better than barf or puke. "SK40-SK 44, we have a huge stinky barf spill at Epic!"
Hmm, right now I'm cool with just being here for 5 months. If I extend, that means I gotta get used to different roommates who may not be as cool as my current ones and the same thing with my co-workers. Also, summer months are crazy hot and busy. But who knows what'll happen.
Jeez, freaking gorillas upstairs! If you ever have to do the college program, try and ask for the top floor.

I was curious to know what the place looked like as well. I checked out the college program website and they had 360 degree webcam. I don't know if it's still up, but it shows you the bedrooms, living room and kitchen.
All the people living here, and at Vista, Commons and Treehouse are all CPs(or ICP), I believe. Chatham is a relatively new apartment complex. It's pretty nice because it's a bit isolated and spaced out more than Vista Way. Each bedroom comes with its own bathroom, at least in our apt. We have a small living room with a couch and a recliner. There's a dining room table with weird sort of rocking chairs. The kitchen supposedly comes fully stocked. Although for some reason our place only had one large class cup as opposed to like 12 small cups. It has sets of utencils and eating ware. There's a small balcony that overlooks...other apts. And we get high speed internet. There's no toaster though
If I have time, I'll take some pics and put them up...sometime. I haven't tried importing images to my laptop yet, so be patient with me
Well I'm off to work, laters!

Lion, what an adventure for you. My son did the CP in 2003 and was a lifeguard at SAB at the Yacht and Beach Club. He loved it. He actually went back and worked for the summer last year for his CP boss at the marina at DTD.
You custodial people are wonderful folks. You will have so much interaction with the Guests, etc. This experience is what you make of it. You learn work ethic and will have so many fun experiences. You will make friends from all over the place.
You are lucky to be in Chatham, but you know that, don't you? My son was in the Commons (1 bedroom with 1 roommate and free laundry) He was so fortunate. There is nothing wrong with Vista, but the other two are so much nicer.
Please keep us posted as to all the unusual things you might get to do and your experiences, etc.

Yeah, I know I'm lucky to be at Chatham. For some reason, when the bus stops at Vista I get sorta creeped out, but a lot of my friends live there. Also, a lot of the time, Chatham is the first bus stop, so at the end of the day, the ride isn't too long.
The management gave us a sort of inventory sheet and we did get some accessories. I'm thinking that one tall glass was just someone getting bored of drinking from small cups all the time.
I wish the furniture was from Ikea. Our stuff has obviously been used, but it's decent and serves its purpose. One of our bedrooms actually just got a new carpet, so that's cool.
Disney-MGM Studios has a walking tour called "On with the show". It's two hosts taking a group of new CPs through the ins and outs of the theme park. You get to learn the history of the buildings and why certain things are the way they are. Like one of the Mickey ears on top of Crossroads is made of copper and is a lightning rod thing. Or like Everest is about the same height as ToT, and if they were any taller they'd have to put red warning lights on for aircraft. So that's where I learned most of our theme park Disney-speak. Oh, and at the end of it, you get your costumes. It took me almost forever to find the right sizes.
Thanks for the recommendation. Tomorrow two of my roommates and I have the day off, so we're going to take advantage of the last day of 40% off discounts. We might head to Epcot for dinner, so I'll suggest that.
Well today was an interesting day. I was scheduled to do restrooms, but luckily i got to switch with a co-worker and instead i was doing Icon Sweep...in the rain. I had a trash run around 5, and it was raining steadily. Let me just say, that those trash bags are no fun to tie when wet. We have rain gear which is just a see through pants and jacket with a hood. Those things are cozy, but when pushing a banana boat it makes you sweat. Then of course i get a huge protein spill inside of Pizza Planet. That's not really a problem, but for some reason people can't see the huge bright orange pile of woodchips on the floor and step on it, spreading it all around.
Towards the end of the shift a co-worker finished closing out her restrooms early and needed to call the manager. So i let her use my walkie talkie and of course it doesn't work properly. But finally we get a hold of the manager and my co-worker starts listing all the restrooms she closed out. Our manager tells her to meet her in our breakroom. So we get there to find our manager laughing as she spots us. We ask what was the matter. The manager replies that along with everyone in our area hearing our radio conversation, everyone with a radio in the entire park heard it. Everyone also heard us go" is that the manager?" "i don't know, try calling again", and "this stupid radio doesn't work" and so on.
So that we don't look completely stupid and unprofessional, we're going to have to have a sort of "walkie talkie 101 session."
