It is less than 2 months now so i've been buying alot of little stuff here and there. I just bought clothshangers for the room, and a lock for my locker. I also got my laptop working ( I got one for free from my brother's work) It's actually been rough for some of the people i've been talking too that are doing the advantage people. I'll admit that I'm still nervous about going down there yet the same time real excited
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

How exciting for you. I've been seriously considering working there again. But this time, not as a college student.
I think right now, is a peak season, and isn't it Star Wars Weekend? I finished my program right before things started picking up.

Cool, good for those of you who have done the program.
I always wanted to, but when I got to college, it turned out they didn't have anything set up with the WDWCP so the credits issue was complicated. Plus, I'm a loner and didn't like the idea at all of dorm/community life.

Yes the Star Wars weekends are this month and all the kids are getting out of school so a lot of familes are making their way to the World this month. I defnitely didn't want to work Advantage, because of the heat & huge crowds.
I've also made some lists of things I want do on the program. For certain things, I want to try some new restaurants that I havent tried before (California Grill, Japanese Restaurant to name some). I plan to see Off Kilter as much as possibile. I can't wait to see the new Spaceship Earth. And I HOPE Wonders of Life is open cime Christmas season! I also plan to dress up and go out with my friends to Mickeys Not so Scary Halloween Night
Lion, You should defnitely seriously think about working in the Fall sometime as a real cast member, it would be awesome to meet you someday.

I, too, support your returning to work at the World, Lion.
Now that I am out of college, married, etc., I would LOVE to move to Central Florida and work at WDW again. My husband would love it, too. But, I think it will always be a pipe dream. At least I got to do it for a little while as a CP.
I'm excited for you, packwing. I hope you get a sweet assignment.

Casrin- I think I know what you mean. When I was doing my program, I didn't really participate in any of the events presented by the housing department. I mostly kept to my roommates and co-workers. I had a few friends and was never the life of the party, but that was/is all right with me. I'm very shy in general, so making friends isn't the easiest thing for me.
SWHorn- As for working in WDW again, we'll have to see about that. Where and when did you work as a CP?
packwingfn- I'm really excited for you as well. As the time gets closer to your program, I can't help but feel what you're feeling to a certain extent. It will definitely be a learning experience.

I worked attractions (Buzz, COP, TTA) in Tomorrowland in Fall 2001. Wow, that was six years ago, and I feel very old.
I totally agree with y'all about keeping to yourself. I was (am) the same way. I would hang out with my roommates and that was about it. It was a fun experience, though. I really just went because I wanted to be at Disney.

I'm right there with you on that one. I did the CP just last semester, and I only hung out with one of my roommates and my co-workers. And I loved working on Main Street!! The Pirate & Princess Party is the bomb!SWHorn wrote:I totally agree with y'all about keeping to yourself. I was (am) the same way. I would hang out with my roommates and that was about it. I really want to go back, but I want to go as a guest (which means I have to save up a lot of money). The only thing I regret is that I couldn't get any pictures that guests took of me while I was working. I wish I could find at least one! Oh, well.

I'm a shy person too but once I feel comfortable on wherever I am, I'm pretty outgoing. I think talking to a lot of people online already from the livejournal community that I joined will help me through the first few days.
I plan to attend pool parties etc with my roomies to get to know more people, I would love to meet as many people as possibile since this is a once in a lifetime opporunitity.
53 days and counting

Take advantage of the beach trips and trips to other parks that the Disney College Program puts together. There were one or two beach trips, but I didn't take initiative and go to them. I did however go to Busch Gardens, and it turned out great. Check those e-newsletters that the College Program sends you, too. They give out a lot of information.

Let me get this straight... you intern at WDW, get paid to work at WDW and they send you to Busch Gardens for entertainment and fun? Isn't that a bit messed up?!sandicinderelli wrote:Take advantage of the beach trips and trips to other parks that the Disney College Program puts together. I think they also give you a discount at Universal.
