Tomorrowland Refurb-Expansion?

I believe Disney needs to retheme tomorrowland and make it something that doesn't get outdated so quickly. In addition, I believe SGE is a terrible attraction and should have been demonlished as soon as it was refurbed from Alien Encounter. Monster's Laugh Floor is good for little kids, but it is located in the wrong park. Finally, Autopia...can we speed the cars up and take the safety track out already??? Just a little love could make this a good attraction again.

Um, safetytrack gone? As a parent, I can tell you one, ok two, words. HECK NO!

Yeah, I could see that being a really bad idea. Way too many ways for kids to hurt themselves and others without a safety track

I have to admit, in 12 trips to Disney, I have never gone on Astro Orbiter or the Race Cars. The orbiter line is always long (and quite frankly the height scares me). The cars are something I can do right here in NH, I don't want to go all the way to Disney and ride them. The only reason we do Stitch is to sit in air conditioning for 10 minutes but realistically the attraction could go away without me shedding a tear. Just don't touch Space Mountain, COP or People Mover. I love Buzz, but Monsters Inc is something we only feel the need to do every other year or if we really need a sitting break. I do love the concept of Tomorrowland though.

I'm forever worried about Carousel of Progress. I know a lot of people think it is boring, but I really love that attraction. And it has so much nostalgia attached to it since it was one of the original attractions dreamed up by Walt. I wouldn't miss Monsters but I know a lot of people really enjoy that show.

Prior to this past trip, we usually avoided Tomorrowland. Perhaps, we'd visit it briefly once or twice and then for only a moment to ride Buzz. However, this year, my DD8 reached the magic height and could ride Space Mountain. We rode that over and over again and suddenly I was in love with SM again. We ended up spending an entire afternoon in Tomorrowland one day and rode everything several times. She loves the Carousel of Progress so I love the Carousel of Progress. She loved Stitch so I [swallow] love Stitch. We even had a great show at Monster's, Inc.

Still, I think Tomorrowland can use some help. Buzz is still fun but can use an update. I much prefered Alien Encounter to Stitch's Great Escape.

I'm worried about COP too, as every time I go it seems ignored, dirty and unmaintained. The new generation audioanimatronics could turn it around, that and an update of the final scene. Start with getting rid of the offstage toilet flush joke. Not funny.

Now for the die-hard COP fans: "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" or "Now is the Time"?

It's an interesting argument considering both Tomorrowland and EPCOT technically (in my mind) represent the same thing. Every possible aspect of our future. Technology, cool architecture and alot more. It's like Tomorrowland is a taste of EPCOT, where as EPCOT is the full-blown reality. I'm confusing myself just typing this. I don't even know what I'm talking about now. oops.

I've always thought Tomorrowland should be more futuristic than Future World. I view Future World as the more realistic, futuristic technology, whereas I view Tomorrowland as a more sci-fi futuristic land. Future World - futuristic reality. Tomorrowland - futuristic science fiction. That's my opinion!

My thoughts exactly. I tried explaining EPCOT to someone and they thought I was talking about Tomorrowland. I like the TL = futuristic Science fiction and EPCOT = futuristic reality visions for those places. Can somone send this to Disney so that they have a clear idea about the future of TL and EPCOT?

so bring on the Nestromo, the Palomino and the Cygnus, BOB, vincent, maximillion, WALL-E... and repopulate tomorrowland with these rides... replace stitch(blech) with The Black Hole... including a fight scene above with vincent and max..., revamp astro blasters with WALL-E's escape from earth's gravity...(blasting trash around the ship, and satellites out of the way...) or just replace PUSH with wall-e instead, and definately revamp the last show scene of CoP...

I went to WDW last year for the first time in nearly 20 years. I was surprised by the lack of WALL-E. There is an attraction that can be made from that movie. Great movie and it could fit into EPCOT or TL.

It better not be another 20 years before I go back. I missed some of the rides discussed here. They must have come and gone in that 20 year span or my parents didn't let me go on them 20 years ago.

Yeah I am worried about COP too.. I know the fact that it was Walt's has kept it there for a long time.. but I wonder how long that will keep it there.. I like it but yes, it is never crowded at all, and has a very niche following.

We love Tommowland. My kids enjoy Monsters Inc. and while I agree the race cars don't really fit, overall we really enjoy it. I will say, we enjoyed Space Mountain more this trip than ever before-I know this sounds crazy but it seemed to run faster. The ride was much more fun than in the past. Maybe I'm just gettting older but I've always thought it was a waste of space before this last trip-now it's on our must-do list.

BTW COP is just passed it's day and IMO it needs to be replaced or a MAJOR refub.

I don't think a refurbish is a bad idea. But I love Tomorrowland! The first time I ever went on Buzzlightyear's Space Ranger Spin I was very pleasantly surprised. I thought it was going to be a silly little kids ride but it was so much fun! And even more so now that I'm really into video games I can't wait to ride it again!

The Stitch ride is definitely not a favorite of mine... Haven't had the pleasure of experiencing the Laughing Floor yet but it looks like it could be cute/fun. Carousel of Progress is nice to sit and rest for a bit but again not a favorite. Space Mountain was fun, I haven't been on the new version though. They definitely could add some more rides and entertainment there to bring more people in.

regarding the tomorrowland NW ride bldg (stitch)... there cannot be that much to bring back extra-terror-estrial back... the theatre itself was unchanged... was nice to get a good scream outta ya there...
