Re: Wonders of Life Pavilion Memories UPDATE-Buzzy Lives!
Even if they called the assylum to make the movies it would still cost a lot of money, and the key is that Disney probably doesn't want to (or the shareholders/board won't approve it) spend money on something that won't generate any significant amount of money. The likely reasons the area was shut down was that it didn't turn a profit, no sponsors, and it was dated. If it was still profitable they wouldn't have shut it down when the sponsor left (like with the Land).

I agree with you that is probably the sad but true reason for its closure. It's a shame that they could have not "re-imagined" in a way to turn it around. With the greater concerns about health, obesity, and other such issues it seems like they could have found a way to make the pavillion more relevant.Wizzard419 wrote:Even if they called the assylum to make the movies it would still cost a lot of money, and the key is that Disney probably doesn't want to (or the shareholders/board won't approve it) spend money on something that won't generate any significant amount of money. They may actually have a full concept ready but have to shop it around to see if anyone will sponsor. Would be funny to have a pavillion with a focus on health/obesity while you can step outside and get a deepfried whatever that is dunked in sugar and topped with gravy and cheese.

I'd say that was a hyperbole but I think I saw something like that on "This is why You're Fat"

Think of it more as "a refuge for healthy people to escape from the wicked, fattening culinary temptation all around them in the park".Wizzard419 wrote:They may actually have a full concept ready but have to shop it around to see if anyone will sponsor. Yeah, I too think its sad when Disney just lets attractions sit and waste away - it makes it worse IMO. If they're done w/ it, I wish they should just trash it (oops, I mean recycle it into reusable coffee mugs!) or repurpose it for something else. Seeing photos of once great attractions rot away is a bummer.

They don't even need to go that far, if an attraction is iconic or beloved enough they will sell off the pieces of it. I remember seeing that they chopped up various characters from attractions to make pins (such as Time Keeper, the alien from alien encounter, etc.)

These pins are made out of PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, it also would make sense to sell off pieces of rides - a la Yankee Stadium selling off stadium seats
