Well TTA's reopening got pushed back so I wouldn't be surprised if SM's did too.... hopefully not!

That would be nice! Shame I'm not going to be there, as a CM preview would rock too. :D

September 1st.

I read today that you'll no longer be able to see the tracks above you while you're in the queue before you load.

Right now, only time will tell. If it is true, then they most likely would be getting rid of the glow-in-the-dark paint on the rockets.

Who knows if that is true or not. It always seemed to me that the light level in the building had increased a bit over the years and you could make out the actual track while in the queue. The glow-in-the-dark lighting on the side of the cars gave the appearance of "shooting stars". Maybe if the actual track area is darkened once again, the streaks of light from the car's paint would provide a neat show.
Are we there yet? When can we go back?

I don't know what's worse, the anticipation of going or the withdrawals after getting home.

Nope. It was supposed to open earlier this week but was pushed back to September 1st. Now it has been pushed back again to September 12th.

Again? They might as well just open it with Space in November.... which, heck, I will be surprised if Space opens back up on November 21st.

I'm beginning to wonder if the TTA and Space will re-open by Jan

If Space does get delayed then we are into the holiday season, thanksgiving and Christmas. I know the parks are open over the holidays but will the contractors work on regardless?

Projects at my work normally get given an "ideal" time scale for completion (Despite years of experience that this isn't going to be the case). These timescales rely on everything going perfectly, no hitches.
In case of "unforseen arisings" we can sometimes get them to figure in a couple of days extra. (we are talking about projects of months to years here.)
Never, not even once, has any of our projects gone without a hitch. The extra days we added in give us enough time to hold meetings to figure out how to solve the "unforseen arising" but not normally enough time to actually fix the problem. Then there is another Unforseen.......and another etc.

My fear is that the Disney contractors do exactly the same thing. If the refurb is small and cosmetic, the delays should be small. The larger the project, the greater the involvement of safety related engineering, the more likely the delays are to become longer. Roller coasters are very safety related engineering. Refurb=not so bad. New Build=delays.

If the TTA is delayed it is because Space is behind schedule.

I worry

When they renovated the Space Mountain in Disneyland, it was much darker and the effects were much better. I believe they are doing several of the same renovations plus a bunch of other ones in WDW, so there is a good chance that the track will be dark.
