My favorite eye sore is now a ride. For years it really bothered me that they did nothing with the submarine lagoon at Disneyland. Can't wait to see the ride. However, the ceiling of the Dinosaur ride in Animal kingdom is not very pretty either. Looks great in the dark, but when you are stuck on that ride with the lights on you lose all believability.

We lost some of the 'guts' though. If anyone remembers things that I'd added to the first post in the list, feel free to shout them out and I'll re-add.
The firsts posts are still here, it the stuff like the "wal-mart-esque" building behind Canada that we are missing.
Do you have any pictures of the "Wal-Mart Building"? I've never noticed it.

The building houses Soarin'
Image

What I don't understand is why they didn't make it blend in more, like they did with Morocco.

That Wal-Mart pic should be the mascot for this thread.

Excellent comparison pictures for Morocco/TOT, though. Good finds.

I think the problem is that blue is TRYING to blend in just miserably. They clearly seem to be shooting for sky blue, it just fails...badly.

Wow that Walmart building really is an eyesore. They did a much better job with the Tower of Terror. Thanks for posting those.

That walmart building looks awful! I haven't been to WDW since 2003, so I have yet to see it. I have never noticed the ToT one though...wow! (I have only been 3 times since it opened anyway)

It's so funny how I've always noticed the ToT in the background of the Morocco Pavillion, but never noticed how huge that eyesore was behind Canada!

Same here! I've never noticed ToT or the Soarin' building.

I wonder if it was just luck that the ToT building blended with Morocco?

No, ToT was colored that way by design, specifically because you could see it as 'part of' Morocco; that's been mentioned in a few Imagineer-y books I have/have seen. :)

Apparently WDI gave up on that theory by the time they got to Soarin'.

To everyone who hasn't noticed Soarin' there before; which way do you usually walk around World Showcase? Just out of curiosity. I wonder if there's a factor of clockwise vs. counterclockwise people here.

I've walked around World Showcase both ways, but last time I was there we went counterclockwise, and I can't say I noticed the Soarin' building's intrusion on the World Showcase at all.

On looking at the Canada pic again i'm not sure I understand where it's being taken from and almost believe it to be the 2000 pavilion building more so than Soarin'? The Canada Pavilion shot above is taken from the back and to the right of the pavilion (if you were looking at it dead on). That building would then appear to be immediately to the Canada Pavilion's left (again if looking at it from dead on the front of the pavilion.)

It almost looks like the shot is being taken from the entrance to WS from Future World but I don't think that's accurate. Any ideas?

I also think it's important to note it's a lot easier to hide a building a few miles away in a sky line view than it is to hide a building that sits a few hundred feet away. Nevertheless I've still never seen that structure next to Canada although I still feel from the angle it looks like the Milenium Pavilion as that looks like it is sitting IN the WS.
