You know that pillar at the entrance of the Studios that has Mickey Mouse at the top walking on a globe? Mickey's finger is pointing straight up. Lightning rod. A roommate of mine worked merchandise on that street and every now and then during a storm they'd hear a crack and be like "well, looks like Mickey took one for the team."
Unofficially but yes, that statue of Mickey has been struck by lightning more than 10 times over the years. Before they repainted him in 06 or 07, you could see on one of his ears where lightning struck.

I've seen some pretty freaky storms having lived in Tampa for a while a few years back ... The nastiest storms possible can swoop in, make loud noises, blow some stuff over and then be gone in a matter of 30 minutes ... its crazy.

Florida does have some of the quickest rain showers I've ever experienced. It cools things down for about a minute and then it is muggier than ever  :(

Only if the sun comes back out afterwards. If not, then the day is nice and cool. Much like yesterday. A few showers with lightning/thunder and no sun. Day was at least 20 degrees cooler than normal.

I gotta admit I was so happy it rained here in North Florida last night! The smoke is gone and I can see blue skies once more! Hooray!

I have never had an issue with storms as they are so frequent. Just try and stay dry. All around the parks there are lightning rods on tall things such as big thunder, space mtn and all the tall ones.

When it's raining it's time to hit the rides. So many people crowd around in gift shops and things and just wait. It's just rain, it won't hurt, and as noted the lightning storms there are so many lightning rods that I'll take my chances walking outside. I didn't take a day off work, pay for a flight to Florida, a room to stay, a rental car, and my admission ticket to let a little weather slow me down. Besides, most of the time rain seems to clear out a lot of queues.

While living in Ft Myers, I was hit by lightening TWICE!! It was in the same summer (78). I think I am a lightening rod!! No it wasn't a life changing experience. I did spend a few days in the hospital though.
