No letters and no ribbon, pretty much just a wand and some extra steel hanging over SSE. I'm wondering if they'll take that frameowork over SSE down next or continue taking down the exterior pieces, such as the arm and hand.

I would imagine they'll do the exterior pieces first, thet way they don't dameage them should they want to use them again in the future.

At 257 feet, the arm-glove-wand addition to the Epcot dome made the structure the tallest point in all of Walt Disney World.
I did not know that. I never realized it was that tall. Wow.

Well, looking at the webcam on the Swan and Dolphin, the star disappeared last night.

It just looks like a frame hanging over the side of SSE now.. Althoguh you can't see low enough on the cam to see if the hand/wand are still there...

Wow, it's coming down super fast. Hooray! I heard another rumor that there will be some surprises for the big 25th anniversary, so things are looking up. Wish we could go on October 1st to celebrate Epcot and my mom's birthdays.
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

It's amazing, how with Siemens updating SSE to, what it seems is a good change, that it's kicking the Executives in the butt and making them fix other parts of the park like the wand.

As long as PhotoPass exists...the hat will never come down. Unless Disney buys the rights to the Chinese theater in LA.

Today they took the star off of Mickey's wand at Epcot. They set it on the promenade in front of Guest Relations.
During my break, I went out and took some pictures of it. I took a picture, then moved the camera a few inches sideways, then took another picture.

Full screen the double pictures below. Then move about two feet away from your monitor and cross your eyes so that the elements of the picture line up. (I look at the center of the star.) If it doesn't appear in 3-D, you may have to move further from your monitor. Happy viewing!

I could get the picture to come over!

I don't get the wand hate! I always kinda liked it. It made an otherwise boring ball into Disney magic. Sure the geometrics of SSE are amazing feats of architecture and all, but I always thought the ball just added some Disney flare.

You mention in a different thread that you're about to turn 21. This would put you in the ballpark range of 12-13 years old when the wand went up.

Some of us have memories of a time when "Disney magic" didn't just mean sparkles and cartoons. When Imagineering was Disney magic at its finest, and SSE was a feat of Imagineering nonpareil. Hopefully, those days are returning.

The reality of this just hit me! Those pictures got me really excited. :D :D :D They're really making progress too, I wonder how soon it will be down, seems like only a matter of a couple of weeks.

While I didn't HATE the wand, I am glad that it is coming down. Spaceship Earth looks much better w/o it!
