If I get accepted, you guys will be amongst the fist to know :)

I don't actually use AIM although I do, however, use MSN. My MSN address is msn@andrewpoole.org.uk

When they gave us the role check list, I marked all of them down, and from what I remember, this is the order of preference I put down (although I did make sure to tell them in the interview that I really wouldn't mind which role I do):

1) Operations/Attractions
2) Merchandise
3) Quick Service Food and Beverage
4) Full Service Food and Beverage
5) Custodial

I really hope they let us know soon! if their "Two weeks" is to be believed, I'll know by Tuesday. They did comment, however, that they were waiting for the government to tell them how many visas they can allocate, so how long we'll be waiting is anybody's guess. Waiting is the worst part of the whole application process! :mickey:

I'm not actually sure where we'll be staying if I go on this. In the presentation, she said that if they house us where she thinks they will, we won't be in any of "those four" accommodation blocks (referring to the ones on the screen, which were Vista Way, The Commons, Chatham Square and the Treehouse Villas). People I've spoken to who're on or have been on the programs can't think of any other ones they have, though.

Andy. Still me.

Yeah I guess it all depends what park and what area I have. I want to work at EPCOT but I'll be fine with any of the 4 major parks. It'd be better if I didnt have MGM Studios so we can all see how the other parks are like being a custodial.

It would be real cool Andy if you got Custodial with me and even better, if we worked in the same zone. We can be Team Subsonic - Custodial!

You know that actually wouldn't surprise me in the slightest because that's what I did last time I worked at WDW. I did say at the interview that I'd like to try something different, and from what I could tell she did write that down (I couldn't see what she was writing because she kept it covered with another piece of paper).

Andy. Still waiting.

In that case, welcome to Merchandise.

I made sure I clearly said No I dont want to do QSFB when she asked me during my interview. I've never ever wanted to work at McDonalds and it would be very simialr but at least alot better though because its Disney. Just wasnt interested in burning myself on the grill if I worked kitchen haha.

Ya know, it's funny that you mentioned that. A good friend of mine worked at BLX for his internship, and he had a couple of accidents with the grill and the fry machine, so by the time he was done, he had minor burns on his arms. But I'm fairly certain no one is as accident prone as he is.

I would like some more information on the main gate pass. I plan to have my girlfriend and her mom come to Disney in October. However, I'm not sure if I'll have all 4 days off but would like at least 1 day off.

During the other days, How would I be able to use my main gate pass so they are allowed to get free passes if I'm working at the park that day?

Bear in mind that I didn't get a maingate pass since I wasn't there for long.

From what I know, the best way of doing that is to sign them into the park before you go to work. This is of course assuming that you're not working first thing in the morning. Other than that, I'm not sure.

If your program is anything like the International ones, you'll have two (usually consecutive) days off a week. If your family are going down there over a weekend, you may be able to persuade your managers to let you have them back to back for the two weeks, thus four days off.

Andy. Still waiting!

Okay, this is all from memory. There's a days off/call in sick/vacation request thing online when you're on the Disney Portal. You click the days which you want off, and request them, but you'll have to wait to see if it's granted. You can request two days off as regular "off days", and perhaps 2 days of calling in sick, if you don't wanna use all your sick days. If you aren't going to the parks, then you can use a "personal time off" day.

As for the maingate pass..um you just have to be there with it in hand as they go through the park turnstile. After that, they get a ticket- I don't remember if it's a hopper or not. Then you're free to hang out with them, or leave them if you have work.

I believe you can use the pass up to 6 times. Your best bet is to ask someone if you're still not clear about it, when the time comes closer.

Yeah It would be fine if they were visiting me at the park I work at but what if they wanted to go to Magic Kingdom that day, it wouldnt be bad if they were park hopper passes though.

And thanks Andy about the 4 days off in a row, that woullld be nice but the weekend their talking about coming up would be Columbus Day so she wouldnt miss any of her classes...how busy was Columbus Day Andy? (i forgot if you were there or not during Columbus Day and its in Early October if you dont know what holiday im talkin about since your not from the United States)
