When you are in the airport traveling for work...and you pass by a gate with a plane going to Orlando...and you contemplate sneaking on that plane...

Yeah, I must admit they are sort of pretty to take pictures of...in the right light. But otherwise they sort of ruin that whole plaza space, especially if you want to photograph the beauty of Spaceship Earth :D

Oh gosh yes. All. The. Time. Even Fort Myers, because that's not that far.

I stopped into Staples today and bought little carpet squares that light up ala the lights in the pavement outside Innoventions in EPCOT ~ they were on clearance for $1 apiece and I saw the possibilities light up before my very eyes!

That's neat. How big are they? I could think of a few projects for something like that.

If you're looking for something more like what WDW has you could make your own.

They are about 12" square. I haven't had a chance to look at them very closely yet. I just saw them, thought, hey! those look like fun, and they were only $1 each so into the cart they went  Most of them are blue, the rest pink and there was one light purply one too.

Looks pretty simple. Might be kind of fun to make a coffee table top out of this :D

I just came across a post on FB ~ someone was talking to a retired couple staying at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. They have been there since September and are staying through January. I think that qualifies them at WDW nuts  And boy am I envious! I wonder if they get a special rate when they are staying that long?

I wonder if, since it is a campground, they have the same legal requirements that hotel rooms have in most cities? The requirement is that a single guest/party may not occupy the same room for more than a specific duration (usually a month). I think it has something to do with taxes as well as protecting apartment complex owners from hotels who may be able to undercut them for long term stays.

Some quick searching on vacation homes in Orlando shows no maximum length of stay. The state has no minimum length of stay to declare residency, nor maximum that requires changing residency after a certain date. It all seems very voluntary.

Vacation homes are not subject to the same laws as hotels, they also don't pay out the same taxes that hotels do. It is also why AirBnB is banned in major cities. It is a city by city law I think, there might be state level, but nothing federal.

And it seems like campgrounds would have different laws than hotels. I'm not familiar with a maximum stay law for hotels here in Indiana, or my native Michigan - in fact, my cousin knows a missionary family who was in the Indy area for a year and just lived at the Hampton the whole time  !! He said they got a really great rate for the 2 rooms they used, had breakfast every morning, supper every weekday evening, and didn't have to worry about utilities, cleaning, or a yard.

The state parks in Michigan have a maximum stay of 2 weeks, at which point the camper must pack up and vacate the site entirely, then exit the park, turn around and re-enter, and sign on for another 2 weeks if they want to stay longer. Private campgrounds in Michigan, though, often have daily, weekly, and seasonal rates.

So it just depends...
