Didn't mean to get all "Bloomberg" there. It's just that most people don't realize how many calories and sugar they take in just with the things they drink.
It depends on the soda, but a 12 ounce serving can get near 200 calories on it's own.
In cake, without icing, it is about 240, but considering all that, you probably would be overindulging there too.

Wonder if they changed their plan after seeing the negative comments or if this was the plan all along and they just needed to clarify it.
If they intended for this to be the plan all along, they really need to work on their writing skills and the way that they release information. The Disney Parks blog on their website stated the following in the initial release: "At Magic Kingdom Park, Main Street Bakery will close for refurbishment in January 2013 and reopen as a Starbucks location in early summer." To me, "reopen as a Starbucks" only has one meaning.

A Starbucks mocha with whipped cream is more than that...
Sugar is sugar is sugar, and too much of it in anything is a bad idea.
...unless it's Disney sugar. That has no calories or bad effects.

I'm just curious as to why they'd go with Starbucks? I know it's a popular brand, but it's so bloated and EVERYWHERE. Why not hook up with a smaller company to give it some more spotlight, like Seattle's Best or something?

Same reason they went with Coke and McDonalds, they want to feature the leaders, not the followers. That and it's got wider brand recognition, they are not in it to help indie brands go global, though saying you like Seatle's best over starbucks is like saying you enjoy burger king over mcdonalds.

Plus...the average person who might be thinking about a cup of coffee would probably buy a cup of Starbucks quicker than they would something generic. People who hate Starbucks won't buy it...unless they need their caffeine fix...and people addicted to Starbucks will love knowing they can get what they are used to while vacationing at WDW.
I know back before I was a big coffee drinker...if I wanted some coffee, I trusted Starbucks to deliver what I was looking for. I have a local coffee shop here where I live that has coffee that is a million times better than Starbucks or any other national chain. Next time I go down to WDW, I'll probably stop by there and grab a bag of their ground beans to brew in my room.

I will tell you this - Starbuck's is a MAJOR HUGE IMPROVEMENT over Nescafe.
Huge.
Gigantic.
Almost indescribably large.

I do like coffee from Star Bucks when I'm on the go, but not in Disney! Eh, who am I kidding? I'll still get a cup there

In my opinion, this is one of the best things to ever happen because I love Starbucks! I just wish they wouldn't use it to replace the Main Street Bakery

I agree! I loved and will miss the Main Street Bakery. It made Magic Kingdom even better when it was there.

The Main Street Bakery isn't going anywhere. When it opens up again it will be the Main Street Bakery featuring Starbucks coffee.

Nooooooo! Please don't tell me that also means the end to the hot chocolate they sell in the parks! I HATE Starbucks hot chocolate. There is nothing better than grabbing a hot chocolate on Main Street, on the colder nights to watch Wishes with!

I thought Disney had pulled McDonalds out of all their parks and now only had the actual McDonalds restaurants in the likes of Downtown?!?

I don't think Starbucks will be replacing everything on the parks. Right?
