I knew I'd seen that, but didn't realize just how identical it was.
Hoping to go back to the Magic soon.

Yeah, I'm glad I found a pic because I would have thought maybe I was crazy...and thinking about the old one as if I saw it at the World of Disney or something...now I know I'm not crazy!

Yeah...I bought the new style one on a trip a few years ago...but the original is still my favorite. Having both of them is nice...but the original is still my favorite.

I remember going to Downtown Disney before it was all built up like it is now. I wish I had taken pictures! It's been fun seeing the changes over the years!

I scanned our 1980 Disney Trip slides! I'll post them in a few, so stay tuned. :-)

Ok, I'm going to do my best to get these organized. I scanned them all jiggy-jaggy and out of order, because someone had dropped all of our slide trays and they were scattered hither and yon. But that's beside the point.

We stayed at the Polynesian, a real treat for us at the time. My dad was a junior high assistant principal, and mom had just started back to work the school year we went. So anyway, my parents must have really splurged for us to afford the Poly! Here are some shots from in and around the resort:

From the monorail, I believe:

Across the lagoon:

I swear, some day I'm going to stay AT this resort. We'll be at BLT this fall, but I really really want to stay at the Contemporary, with a MK view room, just so I can say I have. :-)

And now, for some Magic Kingdom (because that's all there was in 1980!) shots:

Do NOT make fun of my knee socks, or of my Shaun Cassidy T-shirt!!!

Not sure if this is from Poly or MK but it's still a good shot of the monorail:

There is a story with this shot. I was 12, and oh-so-cool and grown-up, and my sister, being 7, was not. Well, Stephanie wanted Mickey ears. BAD. I was too "grown up" for them, and they were "babyish." I talked her out of Mickey ears, and instead convinced her to get this Mickey T-shirt that I had chosen. We got home and she was really upset that she hadn't gotten Mickey ears. It's guilt I still carry with me, even 32 years later. So, in October, I'm going to buy her a pair of ears with her name embroidered on them, as should have been the case in 1980.

I don't know, were these taken in WDW? We stayed in Ft. Lauderdale for a few days (ON THE BEACH) while my dad was attending a conference. So, they could be WDW, but I have no idea where.

Yeah, I love historical stuff too. I only went once as a kid, and the only thing I have is an old Figment doll and pictures that are buried somewhere at my parents house, I have no idea where those are.

I have a few old brochures and such from Ebay and only 1or 2 vacation VHS tapes (always looking for more)

my main collection of stuff ironically isn't from Disney itself, its old travel guides like Birnbaum and Frommers and the Unofficial Guides. I just put up a new thread looking for people willing to sell :)
