Countdown to ST2

My wife and I go on our last trip in March before we welcome our first child, so we'll miss the opening of ST2 by a few months. I have a feeling it'll be at least a year or two before we return to WDW, and I'm sure it'll be an entirely different trip. I cant wait for ST2 though.

I expect that ST2 will have a soft opening, but not any time in March.

Yea i'm not counting on being able to catch it, that would be awesome though.

Yeah, both parks' versions open the same day and it will be before the weekends (I'm guessing to fix the expected breakdowns at WDW)

I don't know about DL, but WDW just announced that ST2 will open the same day as the first Star Wars Weekend. I'm expecting a madhouse down in Florida.

Mindflipper, I'm hoping for soft openings, too. Although we'll be there May 20, I don't think I want to go anywhere near DHS (unless George Lucas himself is there to cut the ribbon. ).

You really think so? I'm not so sure. SWW is a big deal, and to open ST2 the same day says to me that something bigger is planned. Maybe not Lucas but something big.

Do they only do the Star Wars Weekend in WDW? That would be an even bigger crowd draw if they had someone that big at the opening!

If they do get any of big stars to come to Star Tours 2.0 Grand Opening, it will be at DLR in California, not WDW. I bet the biggest WDW will score from the cast could be an actor/actress of a secondary character - like Jeremy Bulloch who played Boba Fett (I know he's been there before for SWW).

He was at MGM/DHS for the closing "party" for Star Tours. But then again they had Celebration (Star Wars convention) at the Orlando Convention Center at the time.

Didn't the convention actually have the closing party at MGM/DHS that Lucas attended? I remember they sold tickets for it, not DHS.

I know I've missed out on so much around here lately, but my $0.02 on this matter is.....

I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!

Though I was very upset at the closing of the original, from what I've heard about the new one, I'm stoked! (plus living with a SW fan helps... ) But it will be a while before we get to go.
