When will the build a 5th park?

Re: When will the build a 5th park?
I personally dont want to see a 5th park until Epcot, DHS, and AK get some major love.
Epcot: Futureworld needs an entire update, its old and tired. Not enough to do IMO.
DHS: With DHS no longer a "studio" a lot needs to be done. I think this park should really turn itself back into a studio, adding more Pixar related rides, and adding Marvel to this park would be the way to go.
AK: I'm not really sure what to do here, but i think more rides are needed.

Marvel can't be added as I'm sure Universal Studios has an exclusive long-term contract that has to expire first.joeyflds wrote:I personally dont want to see a 5th park until Epcot, DHS, and AK get some major love.

I could see Disney buying out that contract, both sides win if they do that. Universal currently has "disney" related rides in their parks now, thats not good for Universal, they need their own image. Disney needs marvel in DHS to help that park out, so i could see it happening.mindflipper wrote:Marvel can't be added as I'm sure Universal Studios has an exclusive long-term contract that has to expire first.joeyflds wrote:I personally dont want to see a 5th park until Epcot, DHS, and AK get some major love.

I don't see either party at this time wanting that; for Universal, it would mean re-developing that part of the park after they have already put a massive investment into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. As for Disney, I'm sure they wouldn't want to pay the inflated sticker price that Universal would want. I can't see Disney paying to buy out US contract and then spend large moneys to develop it, not while they're spending a large sum of money on the Fantasyland Expansion and Star Tours 2.0. For both parties, it just best to sit back and let the contract run out in its own time.

i read an article a while back that talked about how rowling first approached disney to make the harry potter park and they started development but rowling was insisting on so much control that they couldnt agree in the end- from what i hear about the long lines and cramped spaces at the harry potter area it seems disneys fears were well founded

Trust me... They were! Those shops are so small that the candy store had a 15 minute wait to get in last summer. I think the longest line when I was there last month was the wand shop. The main ride was basically a walk on.masterj345 wrote:i read an article a while back that talked about how rowling first approached disney to make the harry potter park and they started development but rowling was insisting on so much control that they couldnt agree in the end- from what i hear about the long lines and cramped spaces at the harry potter area it seems disneys fears were well founded

We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

Be honest, I could never see Disney and Warner Brothers coming together with deal to share it. Currently, a lot of what is in the land comes from the Warner Brothers films, to which they have some rights about their "version" of Harry Potter.

here's an interesting (although very lengthy) article that fit's this "5th park" topic: http://www.wdwinfo.com/columns/walt-dis ... -built.cfm it covers scrapped ideas for all 4 existing parks, yet some are still under consideration, and an all villain (5th) park w/ maleficent's castle as the centerpiece (personally i like this idea). good article if you have the time...

Re: When will the build a 5th park?
cool thanks for the link. the hard part about a 5th park would def be finding one big thing to make it about-
i would say a pixar park might be a good idea- but with all the stuff thats new at mgm thats already like a pixar park now

While I'd certainly love a 5th park at some point in the future, I agree with the thought that the other parks need love first - especially Epcot and HS. I love the villain idea though!
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

I just had a thought. What if they were to expand on World Showcase? Ya know...make Epcot and WS two different parks entirely. That would not only mean they could construct new countries around the world showcase lagoon, BUT they'd have to go in and give some much TLC to Epcot. I honestly think that'd be amazing. I have no idea how it would work, but it sounds cool. I want World Showcase to be bigger.

We've already had two failed attempts to add countries - Spain and Russia - and neither got past the drawing board.

WHAT?!...why the heck didn't Russia pass? That place is so cool. And with the end of the cold-war, it NEEDS to be added. Every American (no offense) here most likely has a pre-conceived notion about Russia. I know I did.

It might have been that the Russians didn't want to pony up the cash or they simply didn't have anything good, attraction-wise, to draw guests in.

I think in both cases it was the lack of sponsors or the sponsors they did get backed out.
