BayLakeTowers wrote:I was at Chef Mickey's last December. There was no character photo-op at the front, just the traditional family photo around the plate. To my recollection, you had to pay for that if you wanted it. Then you went inside and took photos of the characters as they visited the table. So the way I see it, the situation hasn't changed much. You still had to pay extra for a professional photo, it just now has a character in it rather than the big plate. As for Mickey not being in the resturaunt itself, I would hope that Mickey would still come to the table and rotate out with the other characters at the front like davea61 mentioned. If Mickey didn't come to the table, I would innocently ask a cast member when Mickey would be coming by and voice my complaint directly to them if they had taken him out of the visits. They take this feedback directly to the managers and the people who (hopefully) will listen. I would also suggest talking with WDWdining, since they are separate from the WDW resorts as nick's message indicated. Though it would have been proper customer service for them to forward the message to the appropriate department.
i find this to be good advice, which i had not thought of. there seems to be quite a few of us going in the next few month's. a direct question/complaint to the manager probably would go a long way. seemingly further than disney customer service/feedback at least. i hope everyone keeps this in mind if you were lucky enough to get an adr here.

Update on this...apparently it was a test that has ended and Mickey is back circulating the dining room visiting at the tables. I guess it'll be up to the powers that be to see if they want to change it permanently.

Interesting. I wonder how long it will take them to decide what Mickey's role will be, greeter/paid photo op or circulating character?

There have been things done in the past that have made many of us here feel like somebody high up the food chain reads these threads. Maybe word got to them...

I would be ok with that. I would probably have to spin around in my chair, scream out loud, and talk to the screen, but I could resist. It would be fun to see what all was going on out there :D And get paid to do it!!

I would be interested to see re results in this trial. I think for Disney it might take some time to crunch the numbers and see if a move like this would be profitable. As for them reading the boards, I really hope that they do since it is a means for them to gain feedback that they might never have gotten.

wahoo! i hope this move is permanent. perhaps the trial ending sooner than it was scheduled is a good sign. i'll be keeping my fingers crossed. i sure am relieved not to have to explain this one to my kids next month when they're eating b-fast there.
