my memory likes to go away for a few weeks with no explanation, I just call them extended brain farts. I know that WDW is open 365 days a year, but every so often, because I'm not at/near the parks, I forget that fact. It's not that I, for one, take it for granted, I just plain forget. Unless there's a news story from there, or I know of someone who is going there soon...

Hey, the rides need to be upkept through the year. Better they did that than staning in line and being bothered with the ride breaking down. I have not been to Universal for years because of it. Disney's ride reliability is pretty good. The only ride I had to get off because of a malfunction was Tomorrowland Transit Authority. A car got stuck just as it was exiting Space Mountain and all the other cars were bumping into each other as they stoped. We were issued free fast passes to any ride and that was that.

The only thing I have a problem with is Test Track. It's constantly breaking down when I'm there. Typical GM product.

I don't know if Disney still does this... but years ago when Mum and I went down to WDW (this was 1994 or so), there was no way to know what was going to be down for refurb. We went there and not only was part of the Mickey Mania parade down (which was why I wanted to go that trip, to see it) but so was Pirates.

We grumbled at City Hall at the MK and they gave us both one-day passes for use on some future trip to the parks.

Now a days the closures (unless unplanned) are posted months in advance and you know what you're getting into. You should always go EXPECTING some major attraction to be closed for Refurb. especially during off-peak times.

I'm a little surprised that World Showcase, SSE and HM are all having such major work done at the same time, but none the less, I know.

I tried to book dinner at Cinderella Castle with my wife but was told they were booked up to 3 months in advance!

that's not really a closure then. It's a dining issue. Due to the Dining Plans offered, things have been difficult getting reservations for any sit-down restaurants on property.

But, that's going off topic.

IASM was closed on DS first trip. It was disappointing for all, but we didn't let that ruin our trip. Kids also wanted to go to BB, but it was closed. They had a blast @ TL and never mentioned BB the rest of the trip.

That is old information. Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) can now be made 180days in advanced instead of the old 90 days. And what is even worst is now it's not only 180days before, but 180days before check-in. So that means if you have 5 day reservation, you can make dining 180days before check-in for day-1, 181 days for day-2, ... reservations that you make for day-5 are 185 days before.

Cinderella castle you pretty much have to be on the (407) WDW-DINE line at 7am, so that means predial it at 6:50am ET, and start hitting redial till you get the phone tree. Then hope your call gets into the queue toward the top.

That all said... They have changed so much with the meal, I'd say goto Norway or the one at the GF... I don't think Cindy's table is worth the price any more. My guess is this is what they want...since there isn't enough seating up there and they are pretty limited as to what they can do.

Be VERY careful if you want to try and do this. This is a very rare occurrence. Giving away extra park admission just because something is closed. The reason I say be careful is that Disney tracks what they give away for free. If you go to Guest Relations and complain, get free stuff, cause disturbances, they keep track....if it happens too many times, you may find yourself getting nothing when you need something, or locked out of the parks.
