I haven't actually seen the hat, although I've heard a number of complaints about it. Anyone have any decent snapshots that show how it's impacting the view?
On the surface there is hunger and fear. Men still exercise unjust laws. They fight, tear one another to pieces. A mere few feet beneath the waves their reign ceases, their evil drowns. Here on the ocean floor is the only independence.

Here's a link I found to a picture from All Ears Net. Enjoy...or not.

Wow, what a ridiculous insult. It's a nice-looking hat and everything, but certainly doesn't make any sense to put it right there.
I guess they probably did market research and found out most people don't know what the Chinese Theater is or something.
It's one thing to put that nonsense next to Spaceship Earth or that big sign with a picture of a castle in front of the castle (if they'd only remove the sign, I'd have a better look at an actual castle). At least those are just unnecessary additions.
But that hat is just intrusive and annoying. Is it supposedly a permanent thing, or is it only for the anniversary of the month?
MGM has always been pretty poor in the icon department. The Mickey water tower is cute and all, but it's really a weak icon compared to the castle, the ball or the tree. I don't think hiding the other recognizable icon is really an improvement, but I suppose they have their reasons.
Thanks for the link, I appreciate it.

the ride isn't the same as it used to be. For starters, the shootout scene seems to have gone downhill. The car that used to pu;; down the road is now just idle and the lights are off. Also, does anybody know why they dont have the western bank robbery scene anymore. the one where the bank was set on fire. I used to love that. Overall, they need to move the darn hat and do some upkeep on this ride. maybe do the movie in the lobby a lil different. keep what they have but add some more like they did on the finale.
1) The hat is quite annoying. And permanent.
2) GMR has kinda bounced back from a low of a few years ago. I'm just glad we've stopped talking about tearing it down and moved on to "what changes should be made".
3) To my knowledge the western shootout still exists. There are two different versions of the script: Mobster, and Western Bank Robber. When you board, you are seated in one of two cars. The front car goes ahead to the Western Bank Robber, and the second car hangs back and does the Mobster scene.
4) Yeah, the spiel could use mega updating and freshening.
Now, when I say Action, stand up, check for personal belongings, and exit out the doors on your right. And don't forget that thunderous applause for yours truly. This is my first post!
Action!

Nothing is permanent, ever not even time itself!! Many things at the parks were going to be there forever and are now gone. The reason my DS2 didn't see the towers were because we chose to do something else because and I quote " Honey we'll do the WTO next time, where are they going?"1) The hat is quite annoying. And permanent.

Whoa! I'm SOOOO glad you were kidding! HTD was SUCH A BAD MOVIE! They should put something epic in there.. Like ... Hmmm Lord of the Rings? Did I say that outloud?DaWhoLaGn wrote: I agree! Put in something like Howard the Duck or Steel Magnolias. I KID!!![]()
Just leave Alien alone!

"Hey, Look at that guy in the Goofy Mask!" "That's not a mask!" "Oh... Sorry Lady!"
Lol, HTD is a big "no, no".
What I would like to see is something a bit more innovative in film technology. If you want to keep it realistic or Disney/Pixar related; perhaps Roger Rabbit(Animation and live action coincide together) or even any of the Pixar films.
Dunno if that's sounds cheesey or like too much of a Disney plug; but I'd like to see a segment which captures the revolution of new advances in film.

I think the main thing about the Great Movie Ride is they need to get the cast members better trained. I know I know they aren't professional actors, but sometimes they just seem so bored. They need to keep more in character and keep the guests involved. It helps add onto the fun.
I know I know, after you do it all day you get tired but I worked at theme parks and I always remembered even at the end of the day it could be one of those guests first time!
