GROAN!!!!!!!!

I'm willing to give it a shot, even though I have never seen the movie and have never had the slightest urge to see it. My question is this; will it still be relevant when the Avatar section finally opens at AK? It's several years from even beginning construction, and several more years before it actually opens.

They're making 2 more movies. Avatar will be around for awhile.

And if you ever see any TV news footage of the San Diego Comic Con, then you're bound to see some idiot dressed up as one of the blue-skinned aliens from that film...

I didn't know that, so it makes more sense to me. I have no doubt that the Imagineers will do it right, so I'm sure I could enjoy it even if I'm not a fan yet of the movie(s).

Give it a few years and TNT or USA will play all three Avatars all weekend endlessly!!

If it's like Tron, it will be 2 movies, then the cartoon series and then the 3rd movie.

If it's like star wars, it will be lucas fapping with c-notes dipped in bacon grease while the generations of fans fight over which is better.

Let's see, Star Trek has got Star Wars beat on the number of TV shows and cartoons, while Star Wars has got Star Trek beat on movie box office and radio series (which Star Trek did not have). As far as who has made more on merchandising, I would presume Star Wars although there's no $ amounts to tell us who would win that comparison...

Can AVATAR compete with those money-making machines?

Probably since they are not mutually exclusive franchises. It's not like the fans only like star wars and will never like another sci-fi anything, ever.
