The reason the kids gave me is Abraham Lincoln was very tall, so they put his hat on the tallest Lego figure they had ;) The oldest had been Abe Lincoln at his school's wax museum open house...he told me the gun was not part of Abe's outfit, his little brother had added that...plus when I first saw them, Abe was strangling poor Indy

If I had a bucket list...I would probably put "standing on top of SSE" on it somewhere...great idea Amy!

You know you're a WDW nut when...you have to tell people that you are "not obsessed with WDW...but it's pretty darn close".

I think I would prefer to do it with some kind of safety equipment personally; if it got too windy up there, I wouldn't want to find myself flying off the top...

Oh wow, I am torn between being DEATHLY afraid of heights, and being fascinated with how AMAZING the view would be up there! Awesome picture!

Not my photo so I can't take credit for it ~ it was in one of the latest MiceChat updates, but I have to agree with you, the view from up top Spaceship Earth would be awesome!! I have no fear of heights so that wouldn't be a problem for me. I was thinking of how many cool photos I could take from that vantage point :D

I'll have to see if I can scare it up, but somewhere online there was a pic of Spaceship Earth globe as it was being built- you could see the superstructure outside and the track on the inside where it circled around up and back down again. It was actually really cool. It looks like it was taken from a helicopter. That pic you showed reminded me of that. I should have it SOMEWHERE in the mess that is my external HDD, but that is like finding a needle in a 1TB haystack. :) Hopefully I can find and post it tonight or tomorrow.

Oh yeah and I love the PAINFULLY 80's clothes that they are wearing, always makes me chuckle. :)

I would love to see the construction photo ~ I've seen a few of those but not where the track was visible. 1 TB? ~ bah, piece of cake. Plus you might find other photos to share ;)
It is always fun to look back at the other decade's clothing and hair styles, sometimes you just have to say, what were they thinking?!?!

This is the only one I can find right now.. I am pretty sure that I have a bigger/better picture somewhere, but it may take a bit to find it.

And trust me, I have *TONS* of other pictures that i could share, but honestly I wouldn't even know where to start with what to show. I try to find as many old pics of WDW as I can on the net and in books, constructions pis or pic of the way the park USED to be. But they are surprisingly few and far between. That is where my real passion lies.

I know, right? :) If you look inside, you can see the track that is winding around and around.. I cant find any other pics yet, but I am still looking. I swear I have a better one somewhere. But this is the kind of stuff I love, the making of the World! (or... Epcot in this case, hahha)

Found another view of Spaceship Earth during construction ~ in one of the latest MiceChats
Image

Plus, does anyone know if this is Mission Space when it was under construction? Or is it something else?

Actually, I think the second one is the Living Seas. That part in the center looks the round viewing area of Seabase Alpha that lets you look at the fish, etc. swim around you.
