I've done it both - clockwise and counter-clockwise. The strategy depends sometimes upon my dining goals.

Depends for me, I've done both, but usually I start in Canada and work my way from there.

But this winter I tended to start in Mexico since I usually got extremely side-tracked once I hit the UK.
