Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
Animal Kingdom at night is something everyone should experience at least once.
Everest is even spookier in the dark.

Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

It really is worth it. And I didn't find it to be extra crowded at all. EE at night was pretty cool toofigmentaholic wrote:I have never gotten to see the park at night. We usually don't do the EMH while we are there because despite them supposing to be less people they are usually more crowded, even in February. But I will run it by the rest of the people in my group to see what they say. I would love to see the AK lit up at night

I guess I thought they were only open during the day. It does sound fun to see at night.

Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
AK is only open if there are Extra Magic Hours in the evening. They only had EMH on Wednesdays when we were there in December. And then they didn't have any evening EMH for quite awhile. In fact, just popping in and checking the schedule, they don't have any evening EMHs listed at all through December 2011, but they do have morning EMH. So if the opportunity presents itself to be there in the evening hours, try to take advantage of it since it might be a rare occurrence!jacobcary1 wrote:I guess I thought they were only open during the day. Do remember those schedules can change! An evening EMH can just pop up! I know it did for the Magic Kingdom back in Dec 4th, because I had checked the schedule weeks earlier for the hours, and was surprise to find out it was open later than that when I showed up at the park. I think Len90 had some pop up after he had started his trip planning last summer. So keep checking it, because they can be added at any time!

Well, probably, but I am a wimp. I am not really into roller coasters.

According to some new sources, the roller coaster and ride developed for that section was sold to Universal Studios, who built both in the IoA. They are now part of the Harry Potter section.

I think it was Beastly Kingdom that you are thinking of, and it's probably not going to happen. Which is odd since they never removed the references from anything.
You'll have to show me that article, that would be surprising to sell off concepts. I can see that they hired imagineers, which they do, so Universal Parks are starting to get more disney levels of design and process. It's one of the dangers of having most imagineers as contract, they can bring the skills, and even the rejected ideas, to the competition without hesitation.

But don't most of the places have a no-compete clause in the contracts?Wizzard419 wrote:I think it was Beastly Kingdom that you are thinking of, and it's probably not going to happen. Which is odd since they never removed the references from anything.

I heard the same, can't remember when or from where, however. But that does ring a bell.mindflipper wrote:It's now as extinct as the gryphon, the unicorn and the dragon...masterj345 wrote:yea whatever happened to the mystic land ? my old ak posters have picture sof unicorns and ish. i want that land!

I remember reading about in the Orlando Sentinel long ago when they were reporting about Harry Potter coming to Universal Studios...

Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
Non-competes are illegeal now (in the US) after contracts have been completed or people are terminated. A lot of that came about becuase companies like Apple, Google and MS had made agreements to never hire former employees off each other. There may be gardening(?) periods, I forgot the name but the premise is that you will forget/they will advance enough without you and therefore you will not be a threat, but those only last weeks not years.Amy wrote:But don't most of the places have a no-compete clause in the contracts?Wizzard419 wrote:I think it was Beastly Kingdom that you are thinking of, and it's probably not going to happen. Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
Anyway, non-compete has nothing to do with this. It was DISNEY that sold the designs to Universal Studios, so any such clause would be moot anyway...

Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
I'm guessing it was cheaper than hiring the artists, the co-worker who does design stuff has served up the same designs to disney and two other companies and everyone is happy.
