Take away the magic? Absolutely not. If I don't catch myself, I still tear up during Illuminations and Wishes. I still get a kick out of playing with characters and getting my picture with them. It's really great to be "in the know", especially when your friends and family come to you for questions and recommendations. There are big pros and cons to working here, but being able to create the magic or see it work on someone else only makes you appreciate it that much more.mikesatregis wrote:
I always wondered what it would be like to work at disney. If it would take away some (all?) of the magic because you would then know how everything works and you wouldn't see "fun" anymore but "work".....
So, since you know firsthand - is WDW still as fun when you work there?

my husband & I just got back from a mini "honeymoon" @ WDWR. We've been about 15/16 times since 2002 when we moved up to New England from Florida (yeah, we both used to work there too & were there about 2.5 years & def miss it alot)
We considered getting married there & it was our #1 choice, but we wanted alot of people to be present for the ceremony & it was just asking too much for people to travel down to florida to attend a wedding on property. we're gonna renew our vows there in maybe 2010 cuz I'm kinda kickin myself for not going w/ my instinct & having the big "I Do" there at our most favorite place in the world.

We had our Honeymoon there, but we were only at WDW for a couple days. It's all the vacation I had. It was my wife's first trip out of state let alone DisneyWorld so I think I over did it.
We did the other three parks in one day and the other day we spent just at the Magic Kingdom. We had a great time though.

I also got engaged at WDW. I was living in CA at the time, almost about to hire into Disneyland, actually. We got engaged in the Japan Pavilion of Epcot (I'm half Japanese) and married back in CA at a Japanese Garden. Then we moved to Orlando about a year ago, but I wouldn't quite call that a honeymoon.

Did neither, but did stop at Disneyland for three nights (Disneyland Hotel) on the way back from Hawaii on our Honeymoon (1994). It was our first time there and I could not get over how small Disneyland felt. You definitely got a sense of the history of the original. I need to get back there again one of these days.

over at Theme Park Review, Robb and Elissa got married at WDW in 2003, and they posted a video of it which the link to the zip file is here. Makes me want to get married down there (eventually) despite the cost involved...

My wife Barbara and I honeymooned at WDW in November '96. 7 days and stayed at the CBR. I had been to WDW many times but it was Barbara's first time. She fell in love with it, (as I knew she would). I could not think of a more appropriate place to go and share the magic with the woman I love so dearly.
We've been back 2 times since and plan to go with some of our friends to celebrate our 10th anniversary next year!

My wife and I were married there in 2000. It was the most unbelievable day of our lives. 40 of our family and friends flew down and our pastor flew down to do the ceremony. We held the wedding in the Wedding Pavillion by the Grand Floridian. Our reception was at the Whitehall Terrace in the Grand Floridian and then at night we had a private dessert party at Epcot for Illuminations.

Yeah couldn't agree more. There is just too much to do and see to be laying round.. ok you get one rest day..but that's all!!TestTrack wrote:My gf and I have talked about if we would ever want to honeymoon there someday. I think she concluded that she would rather relax in hawaii....I agree for the most part. For some reason, WDW doesn't seem the perfect honeymoon spot for people who like to laze around...

Honeymooned in May of 2001. Stayed at All Star Music for 11 days. This was before we were DVC members...
That was the most magical and spectacular time of my life.. It was the first time my wife and I got to share our childhood.
And now we go back all the time.. I so love disney

Thanks for bringing this thread back dwellsbct!
My DH and I honeymooned at WDW! My dream wedding was to wed at WDW. We stayed 8 wonderful nights at the Poly for our honeymoon. We were "magically" upgraded from a standard garden view room to the concierge level with an MK view! We about lost our minds!!! You would've thought we won the lottery!!!! It was a huge unexpected surprise! We plan to renew our vows for our 5 year ann. at the Poly. Which would've been my selection for our wedding! We celebrated our 2 year ann. this past Nov. 18th (also Mickey Mouse's birthday!)
