I agree with Soarin' on this one. With the popularity of Le Cellier making it almost impossible to eat there, why not do a counter service serving the Cheddar Cheese soup, pretzel breadsticks and more? I know it probably has to do with Lagoon viewing area, but I would love to see something added to Canada.
Amy - I thought Morocco was one of the pavilions that were not lit due to religious reasons???

That's correct on the lighting of Morocco.
I miss the old little counter window in Canada. Ahh, beaver tails...

Yes, and in the case of Islam is also basically kills them having any form of an attraction since even elements such as photographs and films are considered a violation of the rule (to some followers).Soarin08 wrote:From what I have always understood, the host country does contribute a lot to the actual pavilion, particularly those like China and Morocco where certain cultural or religious practices are commonplace, ie. feng shui or Islam.Wizzard419 wrote:Aside from the reason most of the pavillions don't expand (lacking land, the cost, and no one to foot the bill), I wonder if there are also limitations on what they can/can't do as well. Apparently Islam doesn't allow depictions of people in art, and pretty much nothing would fly with that rule.
My guess as to why they don't offer food from Le Celler in a fast food scenario is that it might not work out as well unless they added in somewhere to eat it (not sure if any other areas that serve soup serve it in a grab and go method), and the other may be that while they could serve more in volume, they would make less since you wouldn't be ordering anything else such as a meal, or a bottle of wine, or other courses.

The pavilion outline itself isn't lit, but the buildings and courtyards are all aglow with beautiful subdued lighting. My favorites are the intricately decorated lanterns in the archways, and the lovely fountains. I will be sure to include some photos in my trip report!NaCler wrote:I agree with Soarin' on this one. I was thinking the same thing. A few trips back, we were able to order a cup of the cheese soup and breadsticks to go. But since that seems to be the most popular menu item, and the steaks seem to get a lot of mixed reviews, the walk-up window would be crazy busy and the inside dining would be very quiet, especially now that it costs more. And they do offer the cheese soup during the Food and Wine festival right? So if you really want it, you can go then. I tried it when F1gment had her cup, but I wasn't impressed. Waaaay to many onions in it, that was about all I could tasteWizzard419 wrote:...My guess as to why they don't offer food from Le Celler in a fast food scenario is that it might not work out as well unless they added in somewhere to eat it (not sure if any other areas that serve soup serve it in a grab and go method), and the other may be that while they could serve more in volume, they would make less since you wouldn't be ordering anything else such as a meal, or a bottle of wine, or other courses.
